Yes, and I have...but eating nothing but Wendy's and McDonalds for three quarters straight would start to suck after a while...

Basically until I can cook my own food next year in my own apartment, I'm kinda stuck with a meal plan.

Usually, dorms require a choice of a meal plan. They sell you on the unlimited buffet. KU's Mrs. E's had pretty good food compared to other colleges I've seen. The best was at KU's privately owned dorm, Naismith Hall. They make a killer Philly. Dorms also screw you on their rules. You don't have a stove usually, and you also don't have an oven. This way, you would have to eat something that does not need to be cooked or baked or eat at a restaurant. Usually, the best option is to go with dorm food because it is less expensive than daily meals at Chipotle.

You kinda have to. Think about where all college students would be if all we ate was fast food, 2-3 times a day, every day for 4 years.

and no there really aren't healthy choices around most campuses. All the college campuses I've been to are surrounded by fast food restaurants within 1-2 miles. If you're living in dorms you kinda have no choice.

Can't you go to a grocery store to buy real food?

Yes. But no kitchen to cook with. Just a microwave.
