Whats the LSX in Indy? I'm going to be racing at Putnam Park on Sunday and we are going tomorrow to spend the day in Indy. I'll have my Vette. If something interesting is going on I'd be interested in going!

You could try a little heat on the pully. I had this issue once when I was a kid with a Dynamark lawn mower. I ended up having someone pry on the pully while I hit the crank shaft.

I'm worried about killing the crank shaft seals at the motor, but I guess I'm out of options. I'll take a blow-torch and see if I can heat it enough to pry it off. At least I know if you did it once there's at least a CHANCE of it working without having to do a motor rebuild... Thanks for the thoughts!

my lawn hasn't been mowed in 4 months and I know I need to cut it before winter. The reason it hasn't been mowed is because I can't get my lawn mower hub off.

I bought a hub puller and managed to sheer off the bottom half of the pulley (bottom of the picture). It took a huge breaker bar and an extension to put enough pressure on it to do so. I've deformed the top pulley trying to get it off, but can't get the hub puller attached. I decided to try a cut off tool, and I couldn't seem to quite break off the bottom section of the pulley without destroying the output shaft.

I was able to buy a replacement hub. I thought about torching it to see if its soldered or something, but I was afraid it was too risky, plus I can't see any evidence of solder- normally you'd have some slight bleed to suggest its been soldered. I also looked into replacing the drive shaft, but I think I'd rather buy a new engine than rebuild it since I can't seem to find any rebuild kits for this specific mower.

Any final ideas before I replace the engine/drop it on craigslist?

I really don't know who else to ask, plus I remember throughout the last 2 years there has been a lot of discussion about riding lawn mowers... doesnt kevin like fix and flip 'em???

But pulley pulling issues should be a fairly well established issue for cars too...

Soak it PB Blaster or something similar. Let it soak for an hour, or better overnight. Heat the pulley, not the shaft and give it a go. May have to apply the PB Blaster again if it doesn't want to come off and try later.

Be careful heating it, with all the dry grass and all.

If it doesn't work then take a sawzall or cut off to it....

Also make sure you didn't miss a set screw or pin. Then use a gear puller to remove the pulley.

It was fun till the rain started. I left around 6PM. Did they get back on the track Saturday?

I was only able to see about 10 passes all together.

Yes. They got back to racing around 9 or so. I shot my last video at about 4:30 am and didn't get to bed until after 5 am. They were trying to finish the event over night. I'm not sure if they got everything in though. But, our event was completed. Mark set another record of 6.99 sec with his Vette.
