That's not so bad...it will keep purchase and insurance costs down, but it will be ridiculously easy to upgrade to 300hp -- probably just an intake and a chip.

Or an exhaust. But I really do expect them to leave it at the same 300+ HP mark as in the CTS.

Yeah, especially since (from my experience) most of the GT drivers I've pulled up next to either A) drive an auto, or B) can't shift for crap.

here is a general question, Do you guys think the V6 will get dual exhaust? either true or aesthetic.

I don't think it will get true dual exhaust. I could see it getting a faux dual setup, but I also could see it getting a single exhaust. I think its a dead toss up between the two, with a true dual setup being unlikely, though certainly not unappreciated if it does happen.

I will be really happy if it gets faux, it will look good and allow for true dual setups after I buy it

Honestly, I wouldn't really feel the need for a true dual set up. The custom setup I was looking at getting was a two-into-one-into-two set up. Means you only need one cat, and it would look and sound (just about) as good as a true dual set up. Having a faux setup stock from the factory would just save me the time and money of doing it myself. At that point it would just come down to replacing the cat (or cats, if they end up using two and its a faux set up), mufflers, removing the resonator(s) that would probably be installed, and waiting for somebody to release headers for it.

P.S. Now that I look at it, that looks like a decent amount of work, but compared to what I was planning on doing, it really isn't all that much. I'm not looking for performance, just sound.

I'll probably get the V6 model. Right now I drive a junky Monte Carlo so anything new and nice will be great. I have the z34 model, it has the DOHC 3.4 that has 210 hp. It does okay but jumping up to a 300hp M6 will be just awesome. Plus, the camaro will definitely look a whole lot better lol. I hope it comes with, at least, an option for true duals.

So, I'm a little depressed that they dropped the output to 296, but I'm sure it probably just has to do with the difference in exhaust and intake tracks between the cadillac and the camaro. Both of which were going to be removed on my car.

The output of the v6 appears to be being quoted differently, so don't give up hope yet...Also several of the articles said GM usually under rates their motors by about 5 hp, as you said, a few simple tweaks and you are off to the races...Add the 20s and the handling package adjusted for the lighter weight of the v6 and that will be one SWEET ride...

I expected it to be much more detuned than that. The detuned V6 is BETTER than if it came OEM with all the power. Being detuned means it's relatively easy and cheap to add power, while still having lower insurance costs.
