Robert...

You didn't mention needing to buy the 3 new camshaft bolts in your "parts needed" section. Did your cam come with the bolts?

My cam will not come with the bolts, and I am looking for a GM part #.

Does anyone know if 12556127 is the correct part #?

Yes, that is the correct part number for the cam sprocket bolts you seek.

I made a printer friendly version of this DIY (just post #1). It is too large to upload (word file is 20MB, pdf is 5MB). I will post it someone can tell me the best way to do it.

Nice writeup! Thanks for referencing my book.

What do you use to make the textbox "arrows"? Looking for something that is not time consuming.

I opened the pictures in MS paint. Then choose the arrow color and text color.

I use the image editor in Techsmith's SnagIT utility. It is a screen capture and editing tool and the editor has all kinds of shapes and text options for marking pictures up.

Just for future note I have done a few swaps and If you put I torch on that balancer bolt for just a few seconds it comes right out. No need for the 4ft cheater bar as seen it the pic!

seems like heat would make it expand and even harder to remove... and also weaken the bolt. But if you have tried it and it worked, I can't argue with that... I found it to be a pain in the ass, so if it works... that would be great.
