Sat in Camaro today, some disappointment

I like KoolAid.

I still think the 5th gen interior is superior in quality to the 4th gen.

And if that were my only comparison, I have to disagree with the OP.

Cheap plastic? C'mon. Please compare to "earlier" GM products [In Person, please] (including the 1st gen) and then get back to me on that one.

The 5th Gen raises the Camaro interior to new heights.

That alone is good enough for me. YMMV.

I disagree before the 370Z was available they advertised with teases and tantalizing commercials at the end it said coming.... it made people CRAVE the car!!!

Fair enough. I get that point, totally. I just wanted to express mine.

IMO, if you need a usable backseat, you're better off in a G8.

F cars have always been a 2+2. The back seat is for children and smaller adults on short trips only.

The term 2+2 (pronounced "two plus two") is a phrase used to describe the configuration of a car with seating for two passengers in the front, plus two smaller seats for occasional passengers (or children) in the rear.

2+2s have only two rear seats rather than the more common three. Reasons for this include the fact that they may be sporty in nature and typically have a low roof line, wide wheel arches, and/or (because of being front engined with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive) wide central transmission tunnels, the last of these being the most pressing problem for a third (middle) seat. The Porsche 911 is a rear engined, rear wheel drive, so lacks a large transmission tunnel, but loses space in the rear due to its wheel arches, reducing the space to 2 passengers.

I have done research on the 370z and the camaro. The camaro won with the research I have done. Can a $600 cam give the 370z over 500hp?? I have seen 350z with blowers, and even one I have seen exploded. I just don't trust nissians VQ engines with blowers, If you keep things N.A. then OK, but it is more expensive than modding chevy's kick a$$ small blocks. Also what is improtant to me is maintenence, If some thing breaks expect to pay some serious $$$ with the imports. I like imports, but on the track they are very fragile when compared to the domestics. My dad Jokes around and say

Import sports cars are like weman: There awesome but very fragile, and expensive to maintain.

2Kz28 funny LOL yea man check em out thats what I'm doing driving all the competition thats available to me and then when the Maro gets here drive it and then them again and way the pro's and con's. Crap I'm even gonna drive the genesis coupe and I have no real interest in that car just so I have a total picture.

Truth lol maybe I just love them women lol but seriously I know out of all 11 cars Ihave owned only one was a non American car and it was a 350Z. mine in the end was at 392 hp 343 lb ft to the wheels all NA and that was with 297 hp in the engine from Nissan

I do think the uplevel trims could use a little better luxury feel, or the addition of a '3' level trim, that's fairly minor though as I really like the interior overall. I agree completely. The RS models should have upgraded interior materials like you describe. The upper trim level in the Mustang offers real aluminum on the dash, so why can't the upper level Camaro do the same and replace the painted plastic faux aluminum pieces with quality materials?

Making the dash out of a soft touch material instead of hard plastic would have greatly increased the perceived quality of the interior also. I doubt that's going to change though, which is unfortunate.

I love this car, but I am not afraid to admit to it's flaws.

Well there not as bad. As for the gas tank on the passenger side - no problem
As for the vanity mirrors - I dont really use them
Interior Materials - Some say it was good, some say it was cheap ( Ill decide once I actually sit in one
Wire in Trunk - I dont think that is production

On a side note -

I sat in a R/T Challenger at the L.A Auto Show, and to be honest, on the outside, the Challenger is Muscle car beauty but from the inside, Its so plain and boring. Still, look at the Camaro once more. You may have a different impression. Thanks for the review.

As to the lights in the vanity mirror? There's this thing called "head impact' standards ...our enthusiasts made it very clear that the new Camaro MUST look like the concept-- it does - and because of that, there ARE trade-offs.

I'm sorry that 100 % of the public does not love this car - but I'll take the huge percentage that does!

I agree about the design and style of the Camaro being much better than the current and new Mustang interior. It's just the hard plastic dash and the lack of quality materials for trim pieces that detract from the overall nice design IMO. The new Mustang and especially the 370Z are a step up IMO in this regard.
