The push button start on our Maxima is awesome. Never have to take the key out of your pocket. Walk up to the car, (you have to be very close) push the button on the door handle to unlock, get in, put foot on brake, push button to start the car. If the battery dies on the fob, there is a key inside the fob that you can use to unlock the car. Once inside, there is a spot to slide the fob into in case the battery is dead. It reads the key and you can start the car and be on your way. The Maxima is smart enough to know whether the key fob is in the car or outside of the car. There's no starting the car unless the fob is inside, so no chance of someone driving off with it like the Challenger. If you accidentally leave the fob in the car, get out and try to lock it with the button on the handle, the car does a series of beeps to let you know you forgot the fob inside. It won't let you lock yourself out.

It would also be cool if it came with 45cal. guns mounted in the grill. and a passenger side seat ejector for when your wife won't shut up.

How does the keyless system work when you have to turn the key to start the car?
Thinking of the scenario: Keys in the back pocket, open the door, door unlocks itself, how do you start the car when you have the keys in your back pocket and no PB-start?

Probably a stupid question for you Camaro owners, but I haven't received my car yet

Walked past a brand new Caddy SRX the other day in my work parking garage. The engine was running and a long stream of water to a huge puddle on the ground from the A/C condensation. Nobody in the car. This was at 1 pm after lunch. My friend knew someone that drove a new SRX, so he called him. Yup, it was his and it had been idling there since 6:30 a.m.

The SRX is push button start/stop, and apparently he just walked away and left it running. He mentioned it was not the first time he had done that. He also mentioned getting stranded once with no keys after dropping his wife off at her work and driving off, the keys were in her pocket because she started the car in the morning. Stopped at a store - and no way to restart it.

That's why I love the simple concept of key start. You always need the key to start it, the keys never walk away while it's running, and you never leave it running by mistake.... if you always use the key fob to lock and unlock the car - they will never be locked in the car.

No push button start for me - hate it. I had it on a C6 Corvette - numerous problems, dead batteries, mysterious locks and unlocks...

Confused. I don't know what you're asking?

Bring up a good point. When my car was on jackstands, one of the times my wheels were not on it, we drove Bonnies car. She got in it with her key in her purse and I started it with the push button. I dropped her off and drove away to get a drink. Store across the street. The car makes a crazy beeping sound heard inside and outside of the car so we knew she still had the key but it was just across the street anyway so I went over there. As habbit dictated, I turned the car off before I went inside.

Had to run all the way across the 4 lane street and both parking lots to get her key.

BUT, with her car it damn sure beeps and lets you know as soon as the key exits the car.

I mean, if the car has key-less start, how do you start the car when you have the keys in your back pocket?

PQ, +1. I agree, it's a cool feature & something those who want it should have. But it should be optional, not mandatory.

The car reads that the key is inside the cabin and you just push the button and the car starts. Car won't start when the button is pushed if it doesn't detect the key.

I understand that's the case with cars that have push button start, but what about the camaro?

My only point is you guys seem to be making it sound pathetic to want. It's just a cool feature. I could give a shit less. If offered, I'd take it. Some guys are making it sound like it's some kind of embarassment to put in a car.
You knew what I was gonna say. hahaha

Tell her to change the battery.
I am not saying it is an embarrassment to have, it just seems like a lot of people think since a bunch of low level econoboxes have this feature we should have it too. I just can't see any real benefit to having it other than to brag about to someone that does not. Think about this, If it's in cheap cars as well is it really that "Cool"?
