That sucks! To wait months again or allow them to fix it is a bad spot to be in. On the plus side, any repainting will match since it's new. After a few years the clearcoat yellows so repainting it then is noticable.
I had a vaguely similar experience when I bought my Acura new. After three years I noticed rust on the garage floor under the rear of the car and discovered the rear had been smashed in transit to the dealer and was only cosmetically repaired. Underneath the paint was Bondo and under the plastic bumper skin was twisted and rusted metal. Acura denied responsibility since, "...it took me so long to find out."

The first time I saw that if it was my car, I would lose it. Waiting so long and then getting a damaged car. Wow.

But after I cooled down, so long as they completely repair everything to the point where no one could ever tell (and FAST), I'd take the car and I'd be fine with it. I wouldn't ask for a discount unless they were unable to get it completely right in my opinion.

I must add, my dealer has been great, and I do not place any blame on them for this issue.

GM, does decide on who does and does not transport their vehicles, as well as owns them until accepted by the dealer. So I do consider GM 100% responsible for this issue. I am anxiously awaiting to have a dicussion on Monday, in a professional of manner as possible.
We will anxiously await the outcome

Definitely can't keep the same VIN...That car will be repaired either way and sold whether it's to the OP or someone else.

The way I see it, it's just cosmtic. No major compenets were damaged. It's not like it was in an accident or something. Have them fix and provided it looks PERFECT, take it with a smile and thank the body shop guy for rocking at his job.

I AGREE with Shinzon. If they give you a break and do a great repair otherwise........NEW CAR!!

And forget low vin #'s above the first 100.

I wouldn't let the VIN number be a consideration on deciding what action to take. You deserve a Camaro that hasn't been damaged. However, if money off the price makes you happy, then go for it.

In my opinion, I wouldn't accept the car. I would ask to be put on top of the list to be ordered and I would wait. I feel so sorry for you. But in the long run, you'll probably feel better about waiting for your dream Camaro.

Believe me, the dealership will not have a problem selling this Camaro. Sure, they may take a few bucks off, but they will do all right especially after the transport company pays them for the mishap.

Please let us know how you deal with this situation. Everyone here cares.

If they can fix it without bondo/putty/paint then take it!!
If not, refuse it.

Ok but it will have a diminished value. And as others have said after a few years and weather + washing repairs will start to fade and wear before the factory paint does.

This is not acceptable at MSRP. Period.

This is biz not emotion. Remove emotion.

I just don't get why anyone would care about a Vin number. Unless you are 10 years old now you won't be young enough to enjoy when this car becomes a collector car...if it ever does. I seems like way too many people buy cars as investments then end up dissapointed.

If the transport company damaged it, then its their insurance that will pay to fix it. The dealer inspects all incoming vehicles and damages are noted on the bill of lading. Its up to the dealer to have it repaired in their shop or another of their choice. The dealer now owns the car and I don;t know what the GM rep can do about it.

If you don't want a damaged car, that is your choice. They will repair it and someone else will come along and buy it. Damaged cars/trucks are a normal occurrence and many get repaired and the customer is none the wiser. I once had a truck that came damaged by a chain that dropped from above onto the roof and hood. The dealer was not about to tell me about it but I showed up unexpected and spotted the truck in the body shop as I drive by the door. They fixed it and you could not tell and I never mad a big deal about it.

I do know someone who ordered a $70g black Escalade and it came with a deep scratch on the door and he refused the vehicle and made them order another just like it.

WOW! That baby shines!
Had a 81 Camaro that was damaged coming off the truck. I bought it from the original owner and noticed that the metallic wasn't the same. He told me what occured. Don't know what they worked out but I bought it from him after it was only a few months old.
Saved big bucks!!!

Keep in mind the Dealer will file a claim with the transport insurance and get paid for the damage as well. No matter what.
