Last Saturday I was driving down a beautiful back road in said beautiful car. Unfortunately for my car, however, it had rained earlier that morning. I ended up hydroplaning off a bad curve onto a hill, hitting a stump or something, doing a 180, then landing sideways in a ditch. It's pretty depressing for me because it's my first nice car, and I absolutely love it. The body shop said I should have it back in around 3 weeks.

So, does anyone else have stories of their Camaro wrecks they want to share?

sorry about your lose of control and i know the firemen in the pics too

With that many in one location you would think they would do something. OP hydroplaned. Wouldn't standing water in a curve be considered an unsafe condition and get fixed after a few crashes?

Why do people insist on saying crap like this? Most likely this car will be good as new and no one could tell the difference. Amazing we can still afford insurance with people who think like this.

That all depends on who does the repair work. I have seen some crazy repairs, and they turned out better than new. Pick a great repair facility.

I wish I was a person that never made a mistake in my life. They always help you understand where you went wrong as condescending as possible. I've lost control before, its just a fact of life and terrifying to not have control over thousands of pounds of steel unexpected.

Real bummer to see that, but a decent shop should get you back perfectly fine. Best of luck.

Also everyone keeps saying that the grill was fine till the tow guy pulled it out, but look at the bottom of it in this picture, half that damn thing is ripped right the f off already before he even touched it!

Glad you are ok, insurance will make the car situation right whether its replaced or repaired.

Mistakes happen, no reason to beat the guy up about it people. This will serve as a reminder enough I'm sure.

Glad you are okay. Many people have hydroplaned off a curve, including me.

The BEST way to become a good driver is to have accidents, because they FORCE you to change driving habits.

The good news is I bet this will never happen to you again, because now you will be slowing down big time around curves or when you drive in the rain.

Your car has WIDE low profile tires. Great in dry weather. Scary and dangerous in wet or icy roads.

It does not matter what car you drive. All of those cars will slide off the road and end up sideways including Corvettes. SLOW DOWN and don't ever be in any hurry in that car.

Lastly IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE AGE 25 or younger, do not worry. Statistically speaking, all guys in this age range wreck their cars very often. It's perfectly normal (me included with this too).

Seeing Khamero215's post (#42, on page 2) reminded me of one I had... hydroplaning sucks, plain and simple ... especially on the Interstate and going under the side of a tractor trailor.

However ... as the OP also is fully aware, any that you can walk away from is a good one.

This type of stuff is why I buy GM. My wife was in a 50MPH head on collision a half dozen years ago in her Chevy 1500 pickup. There were 3 vehicles including her own that got totaled and everyone walked away just fine. The intire front section of the truck was a pancake and the engine was pushed back and down under the truck, but from the cab to the back bumper was still in perfect condition. Hell the front doors could still be oppened and closed like normal. GM may have some quality control issues with their vehicles but there crash test rateings and safety measures are top notch.
