Get the Jacfab license plate mount or one of the others, you don't have to drill holes in the bumper, they mount underneath. Hopefully someday they will eliminate this and we can get rid of them. There has been talk of eliminating the need, for street rods and collector cars, MN only requires a rear plate.

Never saw this thread before it died 5 months ago, but I'm surprised no one pointed out that the OEM plate holder uses rivets, not screws, which does make for large holes. Who knows where this hack job originated from. Likely the car was originally brought in from a one plate state and the original owner did it. Hard to believe a dealer would do this. Hell, NY is a 2 plate state. I've bought 2 5th gens from 2 different dealers, and neither one will mount the holder unless specifically asked. Not surprised a salesman wouldn't know how it's attached though. Of course, OP may have traded the car by now.
