so is there any benefit to changing it out if you don't currently have any engine mods? Pros/cons?

Not really. The "weak" sensors work fine within factory parameters. It is only after additional airflow is introduced that they begin to have problems. But if you plan on adding performance mods to your car it is a good idea to get it swapped to one of the "strong" sensors to avoid any issues.

Chase are the "weak sensors" still being used by GM at the factory or did they at some point in time stop installing the "single letter" sensors ? If they did stop, do you know when it was ?

They still use both. The "weak" sensors are within factory specs, they only have problems once you start increasing airflow.

I did the fuse pull as well which helps initially, but the problem still persists at times. I also can feel a dead spot during hard acceleration while cruising 35-45 mph it seems. Some days the car runs like a beast, others not. Definitely a consitency issue somewhere on my SS. Think I'm going to order a new one just to be safe.
PS. My only mod is a CAI intake and exhaust at the moment.
Did this help?
