Schedule an oil change at dealer. Drive down road pull drain plug drive to nearest highway. Pork it till she blows. Bitch at dealer. Get new engine. Or... Sell it for more than you paid to someone else. Wait 6-12 months buy new one when "gremlins" figured out. Also have you tried renting an SS and racing the trans am with that to see if there's a difference? Sucks that your not happy.I guess it's the risk you take with totally new model. My friend bought a new ram in 04 when it first came out. the engine would randomly stall out at a stop. Never could figure it out so he ordered a new one after 2 years of frustration when the HEMI came out. Hope mine is problem free when I get it. That is if the 6M does blow it's tail shaft.

Did you look for a banana in the tail pipe? I ain't falling for no banana in the tailpipe! (Eddy Murphy hee, hee).

What the heck would make it so slow? Is there a scan tool out yet for these? I mean that's a lot of power. No SES codes, brakes not dragging, something must be wrong. I can't believe it's just a mysteriously missing 40 hp.

Hal

RPEPKA,

Just curious, have you tried the same 0-60 popping the shifter to, "M", and using the paddle shifters?

Is it the same result?

Scott, it does sound as though your car and a few others are running slower than what would be considered acceptable. It probably is in the fuel air mixture and/or timing. Possibly the traction control. We expect GM to be the experts but for awhile they will be learning from us. I still hold that some engines are weaker/stronger than others, that is just the way it is but not 3 seconds in a 0-60 time. I hate to say it but these 1st year new models can be real buggers at times. In 3 to 4 years the new ones will be monsters!!!! Stay with it, someone will figure out why some of these are performing so poorly.

I can agree with you here...but only to a point. When do you decide ok...I paid 36~40k for a car that is not living up to what I bought and paid for performance wise ? True, 1st gen models can have bugs and gremlins, but regardless of that fact, they need to be worked out or fixed on the dealer's or GM's dime.

For the guys/gals who car's perform as advertised its a great time. But for the people who are not getting this..it sucks hard. How would it feel to go to the track and have a stock honda accord OWN your Camaro ??? to no fault of your own even.....I would say that would suck big time, and no true enthusiast would disagree. I mean lets be honest you did not buy the v8 version of ANY muscle car for the bloody gas mileage...

You should get what you paid for. Period. If not then GM should fix it. Sorry but I cannot see this matter any other way.

I would bet $$ that if you get someone to log it with HPTUNERS while you do a 0-60 run on the street that its knocking like a bitch.

If it is , find a new gas station since their 93 octane isnt 93 octane

I used to work in a factory and for quality we would always hand pick the best product before sending samples to customers. Maybe what GM did was hand pick one of the Camaro's that could actually run that fast and put out what their "Pick of the litter" was which was a fast L99. I really don't think that all of them will ever be as fast as the one hand picked myself. I can understand your frustation though because that is a lot of money to pay and NOT get what you were expecting.

Check the "Lemon Law" for your state, follow what is required by this law, sell it back to the dealer, as required by law.
Good luck - I feel your pain
