Well this is the "Chevy Camaro vs ....."..part of the forum after all
Just too bad the "16 year olds" are running rampant, and can't hold an intellectual conversation. I understand that the Pony car battle is part of American culture, but as I read many comments on here about this, this old battle and mentality is getting about as stale and crusty as can be. Plus today, there are better cars than the Mustang to compare the Camaro to in the "Camaro Vs...." threads. Many people around the world read these forums, and they know exactly what I'm talking about even if they stay quiet and out of these conversations.

Im assuming your putting Me in the "16 year old's running rampant" which I'm not, and yes there are many cars that can beat all 3 pony cars, but if you take into account price, rwd, v8s I don't believe there are any. You compare apples to apples you leave the 3 big guys. And id like point out that this is a camaro vs mustang thread (even though it's like the 10000 one) that could be why no one is bringing up these "better cars"
And how is this not an intelligent conversation, I'm stating what I have seen and read, sorry if that contradicts what you feel but didn't make it unintelligent |

Apples to apples? Dude, the car playing field has been levelling itself out in case you have not noticed. I'm a car guy myself, love cars, always will, although I will admit, I tend to be hard on the jap competition, but that's an other story. Better cars? Sure, many come to mind, I'll start with one...BMW 1 series M-Coupe. It's rear wheel drive, price point not too much more different, 0.97 g on the skidpad, excellent braking with a stop from 70 mph in just 159 feet ( I said 70mph, not 60!) and oh yes, your favourite part, 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds . This engine is also turbocharged meaning mod friendly...That is but one off the top of my head.. It's this type of old thinking and mentality that got GM in trouble to begin with, hence the changes we saw with the new Camaro and their other models as well, particularly Cadillac and their CTS-V. If you want to go world class, you got to move on and get on with it. |

Not sure why it makes you cringe or laugh...the Camaro was built for the turns. As I stated in my earlier comment, from my experience only, I've beaten them both on curvy roads. And they've beaten me in a straight line about half the time. Driver and launch playing a huge role in the drags. I love my car, and just because a 5.0 or SRT8 is faster 0-60 and in the 1/4 on paper, I would never own either one. No fanboy here, just a diehard Camaro guy.

Hey camaro dude you ever own a German car, I have and happen to work on them rather regularly and they are electrical nightmares in stock for let alone if you start messing with them, and it's not old school thinking, it's the thinking of I wanted a muscle car, a fast straight line beast and the mustang fits that mold the best if I was gonna hit a road course the camaro would be my last choice because you are correct in this aspect of racing there are a million better options, but in straight lines fun driving sorry the mustang takes that in my opinion

I've written this elsewhere on this forum, the Camaro is my first American car .One can easily argue what you wrote with what Detroit had to offer, but lets not go there ![]() We can then both conclude that a Toyota Camry is the way forward, and be done with this conversation of putting weight on reliability of electronics, let's all buy a Yota....but really, we are car enthusiasts are we not?! loll I like to look at build quality, crash safety, thickness of sheet metal, driver feedback through the steering wheel, brake pedal stiffness and feel, neutral handling at high speed, shifter feel, etc.... Well I.drive both cars on weekly basis and I feel the mustang fits those better then the camaro, my issue is chevy fan boys can't except they don't own the best this around and argue about something that had been proven multiple times and that's the argument of this thread

tyler731, a STI with 4WD will take your ride(a Mustang?) in a straight line, disgusting as that may sound.
Point is, no, plenty of cars just as capable off the line to 60 mph. As was the RWD 1 series BMW I mentioned above. But I can see your point, I respect it. Just trying to keep it real here ![]() Unless V8 sound is your thing, and nothing else matters other than sound and straight line, and you don't want to spend over $60000, then yes, I can really understand your point. |

Hey guys,
as I sip my beer reading all the entries, I gotta say this: we all must be enthusiasts of some sort. That's why I joined C5.. I come here every day! There will be Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Chargers (I almost got one..ehg), and I'm sure the Beetles have a forum. We all come together to talk together or talk smack. I think that's the whole guy-thing that bonds us? ANYWAYS, my 2 cents (these days) I think Mustangs are ugly. Interior and out. Younger, I had a GT, and a Roush afterwards.(which I liked at that time) (thought the camaros were fugly, BUT I completely respected their builds!) Both Stangs eventually gave me problems. Since then I've watched new cars come out, and driven others... And I still love my Camaro. Interior looks better to me and obviously the exterior (just my opinion) My dad will disagree. But he's a mustang enthusiast. ![]() Now I'm a Camaro enthusiast. (but I still respect any type of car, minus the Fiat. I tripped over one the other day)
