Do NOT do the ls3 conversion. Go with a vvt cam and have more power under the curve. Peak will be lower but you will be quicker.

Thanks I'll look into that.

Long established facts.

The new Paddle Shifted 8 speed in the C7 Corvette is the best of both for both.

So the A6 Camaro automatic is no good around a corner? But the A7/8 Corvette automatic is?

Note I said what each one was better at. Not that one or the other was incapable of doing the other job.

I notice you didn't comment on the M6 not being able to go straight.

I have an M6 in my 1LE and it is perfect for Autocross. The A6 in the G8 GT is absolute crap in manual mode and is merely decent in Sport mode. Then again that's my wife's car. A tune will probably help it out considerably though.

I do speak from experience though. Not Internet info.

If you read up on the new A8 in a C7 Vette you'll understand that it makes the fancy triptronic dual clutch computer controlled whatever the hell else in a European super car look merely adequate.

I'll be nice, even though you called me out (ignorantly I might add) and see if I can find an article or three for you.

I thought about getting the M6/LS3 bc I love the motor, and adding the auto trans, but didn't have the money for that.

You realize it's not that expensive to get a kit to change the l99 to the ls3 right? I want to say it's like $700, cheapest 26hp I can think of

Idk, I took the easy route and just bought a car with an LS3 so I'm not much of an expert on that

There is more to making an LS3 than just that kit. That kit basically eliminates the DOD. Think lifters and timing chain.

The LS3 has a different cam and the heads are slightly different. The combustion chambers are smaller and therefor the motor is higher compression the cam is more aggressive in an LS3 also.

If you are going to go through all that trouble of a cam heads swap you might as well go big.

Also plan on spending $5K or so to do it right.
