Yeah im looking forward to the tapshift auto. my first 2 cars have been auto and i like the ease of just hittin gas and cruise along. and tapshift fills the manual desires anyway. i personally dont like the jolt that you get when simply driving in traffic and shifting an auto as you accelerate. auto is so nice and smooth. besides. i like to lower the steering wheel and steer with my knees while finding my fav song, checking email on my phone, and dipping my potato wedges.

I'm with you. I just cruise without having to shift and when I want to hear the exhaust louder I let it hold a gear with a flick of the wrist. Any serious driving and I tap for the next gears. Best of both worlds. I go to a lot of Car Shows and creeping in traffic sucks with a manual, plus my cars will burnout, donut and "shift" with the best of them.

I feel more engaged with a manual, so that's what I went with for mine.

On Arrested Development the tv show whenever someone would call Orange County the "OC" Michael Bluth (the character in the picture) would always say..."Don't call it that"

....I guess it's fair to assume that there are no Arrested Development fans on camaro5

It's a shame that show was HILARIOUS!!

Tapshift is worthless once you turn your wheel more than 90 degrees. It's only good off the line...in a straight line. I've driven both, and the manual is better by FAR.

Go with the 6-speed manual . . . why do you think God gave you a left foot? For balance? No, it was to use the clutch! When my 1SS arrives, I will have 18-speeds in the garage! Two cars and one motorcycle, all with 6-speeds!

Since you can't really play the "faster with a manual" card with the tech we have now it just comes down to personal preference. I got a manual just because I think they are more fun, and she's my toy. The 4Runner does DD duties.

How many times have you turned the wheel more than 90 degrees when shifting ? Maybe 45 ......

MyCamaro5: Perhaps I can sum this up for you. If you want to DRIVE a car, get a stick. If you want to drive a car (ho hum) get an automatic. They both have their place but the mission for the car is different. It's the difference between a sailing yacht and a powered yacht. Sailing people love to go sailing even though it's more work, but they're not just part of the action - they ARE the action.

it's like which one is better, the yellow or black Camaro ? Purely personal preference. There are pros/cons to both and depends on how you intend to drive your camaro.

I got the auto, I'm 42 and over the whole "stick is fun" argument which I felt when I was younger. Probably age has quite a bit to do with personal preference here. Peformance is about the same, auto more convenient in traffic, parking, etc. No mountain race course driving for me so no need for stick. If you like to race in twisties or need to shift up/down around corners which the paddles are not good for then consider the stick. Or if you like to rev the engine and drop the clutch to impress the chicks (not sure if that really works) then go for the stick. Cost wise ? Stick.

All I want is to be able to punch it and go quickly in a straight line, auto does fine for that and is very consistent.
