BMR 1.4"
I know the OP already made his choice, but just want to give my 2 cents for anyone in the future that looks at this thread. I want to add a comment regarding spring sag. Someone said this happens to most springs. Just an FYI that BMR has a lifetime warranty for spring sagging. So, no need to worry about that if anyone goes with them. I don't daily drive my car, but that's only because I'm not home during the week or else I would because it's my only car. Going with 1.4" actually put it lower than I thought it would, but I regret nothing. It looks amazing and turns heads everywhere I go. I really love it when the Z06 guys do the rubber neck when they see me. I have no complaints for ride quality except when that one small bump in the road can sneak up on me, it doesn't sound awesome. We don't have great roads in Tucson, but I manage. Performance wise I don't think I could be much happier. I can take the 25 mph roundabout style on and off interstate ramp at 55 with ease! Always freaks out my passengers a little because I don't warn them. Then they'll say they can't believe how planted the car is. Going so low may not be for everyone, but those that like the look and know how to drive a lowered car, should be happy with it. If you want to see you more pictures of mine just check my profile. I got a folder with some pics before and after. |

Thanks for sharing! As you said, I did make a choice but I think this turned into a good thread for future people interested in lowering spring options. Your car looks great! The Hotchkis are definitely not an aggressive drop. Some days I wish I went with a lower drop but for the most part I am very happy with my choice and have little regrets. Especially since I'm daily driving and have a child seat in the back. So my decision was based mostly on not giving up too much ride quality, and I have to say it's hard to tell the car is lowered when judging the ride quality. It may ride better than stock (but maybe I had a bad strut that was replaced, explained earlier).
Let's keep the thread alive! |

Thanks man!
Yours came out real good for only an inch. Like you, that gap drove me insane!! I absolutely hated it! Lowered mine 2 months after buying it and people thought I was crazy for wanting to lower it. But, after I did it, they were like "oh my god, it looks so sick!!" Lowering it at least an inch definitely helps out the look. The only other eyesore I had was the chrome lug nuts. May not bother you but just an FYI at Phastek website they have all black locking lugs for $55. Adds a little more security to the rims because every lug is a lock and flows better with the black wheels. This is just a suggestion, some people like the chrome and that's totally fine. |

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm considering lowering and have a quick question. I am considering going with a 1" drop and frequently drag race my 2015 1le. Will lowering my car hurt or benefit me in any way in that aspect?

Taking the lowering by itself, you give up some of the rearward load transfer under acceleration, making for slightly less acceleration traction.
It gets a bit more complicated when spring stiffness and rear suspension anti-squat effects are considered. Which brings up a related point - that you should not consider any changes in how far the rear of the car squats as a valid indication of "weight transfer" after lowering being any more or any less than before. JusticePete may have some idea about the antisquat geometry on a 5th gen. Norm

I went with H&R lowering springs. had them on for about a month now. ride looks great, don't notice bumps as much anymore. I'm happy with them. -1.3" rear, -1.4" front

If I'm not mistaken, the Chevy web site will let you select an option to lower your ride from the factory (maybe the dealer does it) but **not** for their performance package cars.

Right. For example, if you configure a 2017 SS with the magnetic suspension AND the lower kit, the configurator will remove your lowering kit.
I want to say the configurator used to remove your 1LE package when you selected the lowering option but I honestly cannot recall if I'm suffering from revisionist history. |
