Yes with the right person running it you can have very similar results. But if the load setting was not the same or any other deviation it wold be off a little not nearly as much as comparing a Dynojet to a different type like Mustang, Land and Sea, Dyno Dynamics, etc. though.

BTW, why does Toms River sound familiar? I think Down Ford or Bob at Perfect Power is there or someone I know. Hmmmmmmmmmmm now you got me thinking.

An A6 will get greater benefits from a tune than a M6. Stock M6 only picks up 5 or 6hp with tune. The A6 is de-tuned and has torque controls built in to protect the drive train. That is why many A6's wont spin the rear tires.

Check out the camaro SS engine tuning article at http://gmhightechperformance.com
Pull out the torque control, lean out the AFR and decrease the timing retard and you can pick up 54hp at 3,000, about 20-25hp average and over 12hp at peak. They picked up 81 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 and 20-25 lb-ft of torque across the board.

I would assume these changes are increased with after market parts. That kind of increase in performance is worth the risk of voiding the warranty in my book.

LS3

Stock baseline: ~360HP

With headers, exhaust, high flow cats: ~400HP

With headers, exhaust, high flow cats, cam: ~435HP

With headers, exhaust, high flow cats, cam, tune:~462HP

(this is where tuning made a big difference)

Disregard...backed up...see you are going to add one.

I saw your post about the added cam. What cam and specs did you go with? Once the warranty goes on this one, I'm VERY interested in installing a cam and getting a tune. By then, I won't be able to do anything else except add a supercharger.

After some data logging and testing I think I know why the Vararam is producing soo much power and why you see the dip in chuck cows dyno. Have any of you looked at the intake IAT's? They are ridiculous, especially after a header install. I am seeing 130-150 at idle with an ambient of 55! My IAT's don't drop below 100 until 75+ MPH!! The car is clearly pulling timing with those types of temps. The tables in the ECM are designed to pull based on certain IAT's. They can be manipulated, but be careful because you can find yourself in the knock sensor real fast. If you put on an intake that CLEARLY draws in ambient air, then you will surely lower IAT's by a significant number. The lowering of the IAT's will allow for the manipulation of the timing tables to a point where IMO you could see a 30+ HP increase! This is why the Vararam/New Era WILL outperform any CAI on the market. And this is why, no matter which version (tune/no tune) you decide to by, you should ABSOLUTELY tune it to maximize timing/HP. The dip you see on the dyno is because the car was tuned for driving and while stationary it was forced to pull timing because of the IAT increase IMHO.

On the stock airbox or?

I recall the New Era having the lowest and steady IAT's too btw (same basic concept as vararam)
