Did you do any further work on the head porting or was that from CNC alone?

Good catch on doing this now with that cam.

As for the cam manufacture they need to do a Spectra analysis of the metal used to make their cams if they haven't done so.

Looks like you are doing this rebuild at just the right time.

TSP cams are ground on a Callies Core. Standard cams are 5150 cores with an optional 8620 Hardened core.

And to answer your question the cam core you are seeing is in fact a classic Comp Cam core having a lobe failure.

I believe Cam Motion does their own but could not confirm on their web site...anybody?

btw - in the lobe pic Bo posted it is interesting to note the surface failure was just outside of where the lifter ran...he saw no damage on the lifter roller...proving the heat treat was insufficient to stop the metal from compressing slightly...

Bo you state your stickin with the stock intake "fer now"...meaning sumthin better on the horizon...many like Billy go with the Victor...I was lookin at the Holley mid rise single plain...still shows as a 3 to 7k intake...I'm thinkin it might work better for mostly street driven...just spit ballin while drinken my coffee...l8tr

The lobe damage is on the edge of the rollers path. Follows it exactly.

What kinda concerns me, don't many of the custom grinds from specialty shops use cores from Comp?
