What if a rock messed up the hood while in transit, or the truck driver dropped something on the hood. The car gets to the dealer and they swoop it into the body shot for a quick fix before the owner comes in to pick it up. Knowing camaro owners are a picky lot means they might refuse to take delivery knowing the car was previously repaired or they might ask for a discount. The chances of them fixing some shipping damage and not telling you are pretty high. It's always best to see the car the day it is delivered to make sure there's no funny business. |

I've had a few problems here and there ... speaker vibration in passenger door, rattle in the dash, fish eyes and other issues with paint (funny how a lot of people tell me how poor of a paint job it has .. I can't really say anything .. its true .. this has the worst paintjob of any car I have ever owned). I still love the car though and I hate the thought of taking it to the dealership to fix anything .. I'm sure they will f*ck the car up even more.

I have to say, I have found a pretty good deal on a used ss with 5000 miles, and the seat on the driver's side is worn. Looks pretty bad actually. It made me question spending 40K on one. But then again who drives a camaro for the interior haha

My Wife an I are going this weekend to order our 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, how do you like it? I am apprehensive on buying another Ford but I have had Such good luck with my 2005 Mustang GT (Zero Problems) Good Quality, that I am seriously getting her this car. V6 with 365hp is really good and it get 28 mpg. This put's a hold on me getting My Cyber Grey Camaro, My Mustang is paid off so I should beable to get my Camaro by Summer 2010 As for the OP.. You can not claim the Lemon Law unless the car go into the shop 3 times for the same issue. I would pressure the Dealer and GM to fix the car, all your issues a are really minor and are fixable without return trips to the shop. it just sound like you got a Friday car, it will all work out do not worry about it. You got a really sweet car. Good Luck

I feel sad for you. Outside of tagging a curb and nicking a rim my car has been flawless. I don't think it will qualify for a Lemon Law because it has to be the same issue. It's unfortunate but sometimes you get a car with more problems than most. The main thing is that they are addressed and don't return and I didn't see you post that you had to return for the same thing again which is good. The unfortunate thing is the number of minor problems you've had. The paint issue may not be an issue at all. I believe they put out a bulletin out showing how the paints used can look very different from different angles but they are actually the same. Hang in there. It's a great car and all will be fixed. It may be annoying to have to drop it off but once it's all sorted out you'll be much happier. As for the Tarus post the SHO is a tweaked version of a mass produced family car (that used to be called the Ford 500). If the Camaro was an updated version of an older body style I would say they shouldn't have many issues but it's all new from ground up. Sure it's engines are based on others from Vette and CTS but the body, interior, and all the rest are new. It's a great car yours just needs more love. Would you get rid of a puppy born with heart problem if they could fix it?

It's a first year production, there will be problems or issues. I have 6200 and have had one issue...loose spoiler bolts. Fixed in 15 minutes.

I have to say thanks again to all of you who are supportive..to answer one of the posters, no my car does not fall under the 60 days..
I really do love my car..I truly do..it is a head turner (until they look at the paint up close) It is just all of the issues...Like I said before my other GM vehicles were great. I guess I was expecting too much from this one, but when you drive down the road and a bolt falls of literally...?

Couple comments here.
First to the OP, no you dont have a lemon, you have an attitude born from frustration. When I look at the issue as a third party removed I see very simple fixes to your issues and do not see a lemon. 1. Tail Lamp - QC issue or bad from the supplier, tighten or replace 2. Emblems - debadge the car/remove them - cheesy anyway. 3. Speaker issue - it happens and is frustrating, tighten or replace 4. HVAC - known TSB 5. Tires - sounds like they were not seated on the bead or have improperly installed valve stems. Remount. 6. Steering wheel - Realign 7. Paint - perception issue see already posted thread. Depending on severity, work with customer. 8. Body coming off - I dont understand this? Are you referring to the rocker panel? If so just reseat. 9. Trunk rattle - known TSB. 10. Car rental - customer sat issue So when I break these down like this you dont have a lemon. You basically have a dealership that has shitty service and are not listening to you when you bring it in. I believe THAT is where your problems lie - the dealership and not the car. Would I be pissed off and frustrated absolutely. My other comment is to whoever said the comment about first year cars not having issues, seriously come on!!!! Just the nature of the game Op I wish you luck and hope you find a better dealer. Cheers K |

I know it's a completely different situation, but it is very common for Toyotas (and others) to have ZERO problems . . . I have a 2006 Camry that has not been in the shop even once for anything except routine maintenance . . . obviously nowhere near as cool or pretty a car, but I also payed less than $20K for it new . . . a list of 10 things, even if they are solvable, is not a happy list.
Toyota can also develop a car in 2 years and sell it without any significant problems. Yes the 2007 Camry did have a couple, but relatively few. And they are built in the US too. I was really hoping that GM could get their act together . . . and there is still a good chance that I will buy one of these . . . but this is a little discouraging. I guess if they couldn't get their act together in the past 20 years it is a bit of a stretch to think that the "new GM" can do it overnight. I still think you might be able to use the lemon law, read the summary that the guy posted -- I might not be reading it right, but I don't think you need to meet ALL of those conditions, just one of them . . . so just keep taking it back to them and leave it there for the same thing over and over, or leave it there for several days if it is not fixed, and it sounds like you fit the rules. If they can use the rules against you, you can play the same game. (I fully expect to get flamed for talking about a rice burner on this site, but those are the facts!) |
