Also, 2 clips to hold the bowtie on? Not sure I would trust that unless they pressure down on the tabs. I am using a SS emblem instead.
Half an inch

At least put a clear sealant on it to protect the color from fading. i got my grille in today, and it looks great! i took it to the paint shop and they are only charging me 1 hour paint labor plus materials = total $75! that is cheap!

how do i know this you ask? i have installed a grille on another car and left the smooth black plastic as is... 3 months later it started to show signs of fading, i installed it about a year ago and it looks like sh!t now.

if you don't believe me, you'll be doing this every 6 months!
Thanks...You just answered my question in the other thread.

I didn't drive my car to the shop today and couldn't wait to get home to put it on when it came back from my painter.
Just crappy phone shots.

With stock bow-tie

Seeing what the SS would look like

This is how I attached the bowtie. For those who want it on there.

I got the clips at a local auto parts store. The are called speed nuts. I was going to drill a whole on the tab of the emblem and secure it with a small screw, but now I cant take the chevy emlem off. I guess thats secure enough.

I got the idea from this thread:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...eritage+grille

The only thing different is the retainer clips.

Can someone measure the pitch of degrees that the grille has? I see it comes to a point, so I am wondering what kind of angle it is.

I am guessing inbetween 150 or 160 degrees?

Really, 145, that is close to what I was hoping. I have a old skool SS emblem with the posts for mounting in the grille and it has a 140 degees bend.

Looks like this:

Oh yeah, I got mine for $240 also. Got it from the vendor here, GM parts direct. Mine will be here tomorrow.

I have a 2LT/RS and was thinking about putting the RS grille babge , just like the one you have, off a 69 camaro. if you do use the badge let me know how it fits.

I dont understand, what part are you talking about painting? The grille slots or the outer parimeter? The outer part is already grey/charcoal, why would it fade?

I think you are correct Fbody, it comes prepainted. Should be no problem leaving it as is.
