Is this MTX system taking the BASS away from the stock speakers so they act more like components?

That's how i understand it. The 2 rear speakers take on more of a speaker setting, instead of them handling the bass.

I'm thinking that the mtx is just adding bass and the speakers are behaving like stock speakers. It would be cool if the mtx took the bass load off the stock speakers. I wanted to get some type of confirmation on it.

I cant really tell, to tell you the truth. All i know is it sounds amazing with my iPod hooked up. I don't think the MTX takes all the bass load off of the speakers. But I do think it changes the sound of the 2 rear speakers (takes some of the bass load of the 2 rear).

I really don't think it takes all the bass, but it takes most of it.

Really, a video wouldn't do it justice. I dont know, maybe a digital recorder might work better.

First install

Decided to try the factory sub and install it myself, never done an install before. Got everything working but can't figure out the bolting on the top. The metal piece I can get bolted in so it stays, but then of course you can't bolt the sub in since the bolts are in. How the heck does the plate stay in so you have the holes to bolt the sub in? Driving me nuts, but at least it is sitting in the trunk working for now.
Getting the sub bolted in is by far the most difficult part for me. The wiring was a snap.. Anyone know what I am missing by chance.?

You did drill holes for the bolts right? Just trying to figure out which step you missed.

I think you might have missed step 22. You have to slide the plate through the cross member to the center hole.

This hole:

Then you can stick your hand through the hole on the cross member and the hole on the plate, to hold it in place. The hole on the cross member and the hole on the plate should match up almost perfectly, if you positioned the sub right, and drilled the holes correctly.

hole on plate:

I just ordered mine. Any tips? At first glance the instructions don't seem too user friendly.

I managed to do the install myself, and I am a complete novice at any sort of install. I did have the premium audio, which allowed me to skip a couple easy steps. For me, the drilling of the holes for the bolts was by far the worst part. My only tip is make sure you have a good drill, extra battery ready to go in case you need it, and have the proper drill bits, 13.5 I think, and new. It will make it a lot easier to get those things done properly.
I ended up having to manually file the holes larger, and ended up getting a new drill, the one i had was no good for drilling through the metal. The wiring was simple. With the battery in the back and the wires all right there, that part was easy.
Now my main issue is deciding how much bass i want and i still fiddle with the tones constantly.....just like I am always adjusting my power seat, doubt either of those things will ever change....
