How many times am I going to hear, why didn't you just buy a Corvette?

I was just having a similar conversation to this on another website. My Camaro was my avatar on there and this girl messaged me "cute car. Is it faster than my corvette?" Wtf?! Who cares, first of all...Second of all, is that supposed to be funny or what?

Turns out she has a 2010 Z06, so I was like "well, you're definitely faster -- do you know your 0-60 time?" and she didn't even know. She knew a little about the car, but not a ton...and then she was trying to make it sound like it's so much better. I just said "it's nice, but I like my Camaro...plus, it's about half the price." Then she said she paid 92k for it, I think...that's MORE than twice the money.

I think a lot of people just don't understand what cars cost. I get people looking at my car all the time going "how the hell did you afford that?"

Next time somebody asks you "why didn't you get a Corvette?" just answer "because I wanted a Camaro" and be done with it. Or, if they're driving a mustang, you could always retort with "I dunno...why didn't you buy a Ford GT?" :-P

I hate this complaint. Coming from someone who has driven them all (and probably will own both), I generally like the Camaro more. For one, it's more comfortable. Also, I don't worry AS much about driving it as I would about a Z06 or ZR1... people don't mess with you as much. Plus, fits the personality better.

Call me crazy. My first Chev was one I still have (my IROC) that my dad and I picked out together when I was five. He has a ZR1 now, and my mom has a 2SS/RS... but I'm much more comfortable driving the Camaro on the day-to-day (I visit them often). I'd take the ZR1 to the track any day though

I have both.. Love both and they are great cars to drive. Each has it's plus and negs. I've had corvettes since I was in my mid 30s and it far from being a old guys sports car.

i love both cars, and would GLADLY own both, but i kinda like the camaro-mustang rivalry thing. i mean, everyone knows the vette is on top. you have a vette, you win. the closest things to it are the Dodge Viper and the GT500, which are both still destroyed by the vette(no offense to viper or gt500 owners). with the camaro vs mustang, its more even, and more a drivers race(at least stock it is). but like i said, i love both cars, so if anyones offering... lol

i get these questions every time i tell a guy about me car. it doesnt help if they know that for the price i paid for my car, i could have gotten a 1SS.

Up here the cost of my 2LT would have gotten me a fully loaded 2SS in the states, and even then I would have still have got the 2LT.
