I'm going to assume that aftermarket companies will come up with ways to change the colors to anything we'd like soon enough. Well, that's assuming this 'light pipe' isn't something very complex in the way they implement it.

I came here looking for another thing altogether .....

I am trying to find out if you can get the HID headlights with out ordering the RS package. I have ordered my car already ( 2SS ) and except for the headlights it already has everything in the RS package, in fact we ordered the polished 20" wheels as well, so we would really be paying for a whole kit of stuff that already comes on the car just to get the headlights.... So is is possible to order just the cool headlights ? Or do I have to spend all that money for the RS "package" just for the headlights ? My dealer hasn't been any help at all, in fact I have had to hold his hand through this whole process, the only information he has had about the car at all it seems he has gotten from me !!!

There is currently no way to get the HIDs without the RS package. I am a little curious though when you say that your car already has everything in the RS package. The 2SS doesn't come with the HIDs, body-colored ditch molding, RS taillamps or the RS badging without the RS package.

negative. Unless you go aftermarket, RS is the only way to get HID.

Sorry, I'm not sure what the ditch molding is, and haven't been able to spot it in the photos I've seen so far, the same for the taillamps ( chrome trim maybe ? ), and personally I think that the SS badging trumps the RS badging anyway. As to the other stuff, we already get the front and rear spoilers , and silver painted wheels ( Sure they're different , but hey, they're just painted wheels ! ). So basically they seem the same except for the headlights.

Sorry for my ignorance, my dealer hasn't been any help so I came here for some help. I thought that I was starting to get a handle on this thing and this site has been a lot of help. I want to get my order straight before the factory picks it up ! So thanks for the help !!

the ditch moldings are the black stripes running front to back along the outside edges of the roof. they are painted body-color with the RS package. the RS tail lamps are tinted & have dark reflectors instead of chrome. the SS/RS has a red SS badge instead of silver. i'll get pics in a second.

I think I have all the badges figured out from all the pictures compiled.

1LT and 2LT have no badges
1LT and 2LT with RS package have red RS badges
1SS has white SS badges trimmed in chrome
2SS has chrome SS badges
1SS or 2SS with RS packed have red SS badges.

Does this sound right?

the LS also has no badges on the grille or rear deck.
from what it looks like, the 1SS & 2SS have the same white SS badge

Okie dokie, I went back to my dealer today and fixed our order to include the RS package, and also clued him into the few things I have picked up since he and I have last talked. He seems grateful for the info as well, seems like Chevrolet gives him about as much info as they give the rest of us ...

Well everyone, with the announcement by OBAMA on fuel efficiency and such, I am going to take the plunge and put my order in. I am working with several dealers in the area (and am hoping for UNDER MSRP with the current economic situation). But, can someone sketch me the process--from arriving at the dealer, the dealer puts it in the computer, do I get a code number? How can I track when its built? Will I get any confirmation? How will I know when its shipped, etc., etc. Any help Greatly appreciated. By the way, i am going with IOM 2SS/RS, hurst, sunroof. I plan on getting white stripes painted on, and a cam, LTs, induction, and tune for around 480-500 rwhp.

I am fairly new and have read quite a bit but didn't see how much the RS package would add to the sticker of the 2SS I am going to order. Does anyone know when the latest a 2010 2SS can be ordered before they will take orders on the 2011 and will there be any changes in color on the 2011 or price?

March 16 is the latest to lock in introductory pricing most likely price will go up after. I would guess you could order a 2010 up past Sept. don't know about color changes.
