OK let me ask one more question.
How does VVT work on a pushrod engine? Won't that work better on a OHC engine? ![]() I think I can guess what Dual Cam Phasing is considering a CAM can be represented as an oscillator with a graph of a sin wave, and a phase shift is just a translation on the x-axis (time), which would be running at the same angular velocity just a little earlier or later in the cycle. I guess this means that the valves will potentially open at two different points of time versus the stroke, depending on which of the two possible phases is in effect. That's' just based on my understanding of math, not car knowledge. Or am I way off? Maybe it has something to do with cylinder de-activation? ![]()

Many Camaro owners. Not your typical forum members. Will probably never pop the hood much less bother to put in anything but 87 Unleaded. So it will detect knock and adjust as needed. With the SS your gonna want super if you can afford it. V6 probably will run great on the cheap stuff. Just my 2c. |

I know plenty of people who run 87 in their 10.5:1 cr lt1s and dont have problems (till summertime), but they also have put their cars on the dyno and at the track and have recorded lower power and slower times. key point of all this. RUN WHATEVER YOU WANT. I'd prefer you run what is recommended for the motor or higher. but whatever, its not my car. but if you are penny pinching at the pump, you deserve engine knock

Hey, just noticed on the official site it lists the Recommended fuel to be used as Regular. At a 10.7:1 Ratio! That's surprising to me, I would think you'd be setting off the knock sensor like mad. It also states Premium rec. for increased performance. Does that mean they dyno'ed it with 87 octane and that we'll get more than 426HP out of the LS3 simply by switching up to premium? If so, sweet. I buy premium today, mpg won't be changing. But I'll be getting another 180 HP+. Sweetness.

Yes, absolutely. However, what horsepower will it get with two gases? If its 426HP with 87 octane...sweet. I'll be buying premium regardless.
