Only in Texas could football interfere with a race.....
![]() "AUSTIN, Texas -- Circuit of the Americas officials say they hope Formula One will change the date of the 2013 U.S. Grand Prix to avoid a conflict with a University of Texas home football game the same weekend. The track near Austin opened last month to rave reviews with more than 260,000 attending the three-day race weekend. The 2013 race has been scheduled for Nov. 17 with practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday. Texas hosts a home football game that same weekend. Track and university officials worry both events will bring a crush of people to Austin and will strain access to hotel rooms and disrupt transportation. Track chairman Bobby Epstein says he's confident F1 officials are working to find a solution, but acknowledged the race date may not be changed" |

If I read the article correctly, the Boss was not in the competition this year. Is that time from last year?
Regardless, it shows braking and handling are so important to having track performance. And the 1LE and ZL1 have those pretty well sorted out. On that note, however, I am puzzled as to why an SS is 8 seconds behind a 1LE. That doesn't compute. Nor does the fact that the Z51 Corvette was only better than the SS by .2 seconds. And the last dicussion for The House......................why is a ZL1 faster than the Z06 on this chart by 3.6 seconds. Does that even come close to making sense? Does 75 HP Make up for 800 pounds? Can the same basic brakes stop a ZL1 just as easy as the Z06? But again for the cars that were there on that day, it sure was a great Chevy result.

Yes the Boss was from last year, but the car hasn't changed.

Suspected as much. The argument from the Blue Oval boys would be track conditions. I never had a doubt that ZL1 would be the better track car over the Boss. Said so often and was poo pooe for it. We need a Boss killer, everyone said. Well it appears to do more than kill it (even if there were not on the same day). Also, what are the Mustang folks talking about now that the Boss is dead? Are they suspecting something better? different? or just missing?

But the GT500 and ZL1 were on the same day... 3 second difference is pretty big..

The Camaro has had a superior chassis from day 1 but the press kept wanting to give the Mustang toooooo much credit. Now we are seeing the real benefit to the IRS in both the 1LE and ZL1.

![]() Maybe some of these laps times are a couple of years old? The Z51 lap time does seem odd.... To me it seems like the "MR" cars are rockets from the factory! EDIT: Some of the lap times are old so that makes much more sense. The Z51 lap time was from 2008. |
