Love hearing success stories like this, with no college exp! Awesome...

I also opted on becoming $80k richer by avoiding "college tuitions". I'm a Licensed Bank Manager at WFB & love it!

Got a job as a pharm tech. Told myself I wouldn't buy anything stupid with all the new money. Did it anyway.

Congratulations on the job with Paypal! Being in Infosec, not sure if you'll get a lot of hands on at building but perhaps a bit more with forensics.

I wouldn't call myself a Linux nut though I'm moderately comfortable with a CLI.

To the OP (even though this is a three year old thread), I've been in IT for 27 years and while not every second has been pleasurable, I've loved every minute of it! The secret to success is to do something you love to do. That way, even if you're not having a wonderful day, you're still enjoying what you do.

I learned my job in the Air Force. I figured it was a decent trade, I gave them 4 years of my life, they taught me a trade I could use for the rest of my life. I make considerably more now than I did when I was in the Air Force and it's allowed me to get the things I want, which currently include my Camaro.

I really hope you don't tell that to your children. College is hardly just tossing away $80k.
