so i guess, the stang is underestimated pretty often due to some of its pretty "conservative" components
On the drag strip, there isn't much anyone would want to exchange for "newer," or "more sophisticated" components on the new GTs. I assume you are referring to the solid rear axle as the 5.0 DOHC doesn't really fall into that category of older tech. . . but anyone with 10 minutes of drag racing experience knows the solid axle dominates at the strip. I think it's just a case of some dude having no clue what he's doing. 14.01? With those slicks on the back, even a stock 2011 v6 would almost always do better than that.

Thanks for contributing but what components on the new 5.0L do you consider " Pretty conservative"?

I on the other hand see it as a drag racing machine given its light weight, steep 1st gear, lots of rear end gear selections, solid rear axle, large selection of drag wheel and tires, and its Ti-VCT technology that keeps pulling and delivering max power and all the way to its 7,300 rpm red line. Stock powered 2011 GT's are lifting the tires with dead hook, and running 10 flat with their stock engines, diff's, and transmissions, that sounds light years beyond "Pretty conservative components" if you ask me.

But if that still how you feel then that's cool.

How's it shitty? Some people have issues with notchy shifting and clutches sticking. . . just like some people break output shafts in the ls3 camaros. It seems to work perfectly fine for the majority.

Exactly right. I have had 0 issues with my MT-82 and have run the piss out of the car. It pulls the wheels at the track and shifts better than it did new in fact. I changed the trans fluid to RP 75w-90 gear oil and has been the smoothest manual trans I have owned. There are a few who have had legitimate trans issues however it is not the pandemic that some make it out to be.

Videos of last outing:

DA was 2,500' above SL. Corrects to 11.29@121 with a terrible 60'. Working to fix that. Good air with a mid 1.5 60' and it may be knocking on the 10 sec barrier. Valve cover has never been off.

Drive the car to the track with the A/C blowing and stereo blasting, change tires, rinse and repeat.

Yeah, maybe I kinda came out swinging on that one, but there's definitely a pretty big problem with the manual trans on the new mustang.

It looks like some people are having a real problem that should be corrected by ford, but most just either have never driven a manual trans before. Grinding going into any gear = problem that should be fixed. Stiffness and notchiness when cold = you didn't buy a ferrari. Every manual trans car at a reasonable price I have ever driven has had 1-2 notchiness when cold.

That's the problem with forums. A few people have a problem and everyone goes crazy paranoid. I hope Ford takes care of the problem for the people that have it, and I expect they will. On the other hand, half of those people are describing typical cold trans.

It happens with all of them. I know better than most because of subaru's engine problems in the most recent STi iterations, everyone thinks they have a blown engine now in cars that have been running fine for 5+ years. What problem is that happening with here? I typically only frequent the forced induction and nitrous sections. . . I'll have to check it out.

Oh, the outpust shaft? I thought maybe you were talking about axles, but I'd only heard about axle failure in modded SS's so I wasn't sure. Seriously, things get out of hand quick and it's usually a VERY small sample size having problems.

"My brother's friend's brother's cousin saw an SS break a trans at the strip. These transmissions suck."
