Holy old thread revival Batman!
At least this one's a classic..... I must admit, this thread at it's peak was the most fun I have ever had with my computer. I must meet the engineer who physically stuck the "shunt in trunk" sticker to the IVER IP..... his/her life can never be the same

1. Beginning in late 2006-early 2007, GM research/development team used multiple IVER (Integration Vehicle Engineering Release) pre-production vehicles for Camaro development. These cars looked like the Camaro, but aren't ready for full production yet. They were very, very rough around the edges, had inoperable airbags and other safety devices, and were not for anyone to use but engineers and other GM/Camaro core development team members (of which Fbodfather is not directly a member of). They use them for all kinds of hard core testing, racking up 200,000 miles on them in the most extreme conditions. The cars are used for research, not for fun. When finished with research, these vehicles are destroyed. 2. Fbodfather is a long time member of this forum, and a VERY long time GM employee (sorry Scott, not trying to let your age slip too much here ). He's a wonderful person, and has been involved with older F-body Camaro developments over the years. 3. Sometime in 2007, as spy pictures of the IVERs started poping up all over the place, two very interesting pictures showed up: one of a yellow IVER with a cable/rope hanging out of the trunk (obviously for use due to the trunk lock mechanism was not fully developed at that time), and another black IVER: this one is the key. Someone took a spy pic of the interior (which was a whole other can of beans at the time) in which an engineer stuck a large sticker to the instrument pannel which read "SHUNT IN TRUNK" 4. Shunt means to bypass, and in this situation the shunt the engineer was referring to was an electronic circuit designed for protection or safety while they were developing the car. Like I said, as an IVER not everything is fully functional...... if there was an electronic overcurrent somewhere in the vehicle electronics, or if there was a mechanical problem, the shunt circuit would engage to protect the rest of the electronics: these cars had about $200,000 of GM's development cash in them, each, at the time (which was under old GM, and that cash was quickly dissapearing anyway). Wouldn't want them to go up in smoke if there was a problem. 5. Adding all of this up, we quickly surmised that Scott had kidnapped Shunt, tied him up in the trunk but left the rope hanging out, and to remind himself that Shunt was back there he affixed the sticker to the dashboard. 6. There was a complete all out search for Shunt which got all the way to the military, Navy Seals, and even the autobots and decepticons got involved..... very heavy stuff. 7. To this day, Scott caries a wry grin whenever you mention this..... he still knows something that he's not telling

Searching for the truth

It seems Shunt is still alive, and has been recaptured.
New info suggests that Shunt and Scott were seen "discussing" what the Z28 should be. (looks like didn't learn his lesson from the head lights) Recent radio traffic has us to believe Shunt is in Germany waiting on "transportation arrangements" aka a more secure trunk. New Vehicle is reported to be fast and elusive, but is recognizable by by a unique sound and earth shacking power. Get your popcorn ready cause here we go again.
