I think most come here and say this because of the notorious rep this site has. When you goto other forums, the first things you see on other cars are

"the Camaro5 guys claim camaro's will beat anything on the road !!"

So of course you will get people who want to challenge this fact. I mean look at the GT500 vs Henn thread....that guy bluecamarodemon or whatever....he is the type of person that the other forums point to and say

"See !! that guys is from camaro5!!"

Not all owners of cars act the same. People will be loyal to their brand. Many people will exaggerate about what their cars can run or do. Hell even on the kind of car they own...the earlier example did not even own a Camaro !! So if you say you have a TA that will runs 11's, most from another brand will simply not believe you until they see it run. Then of course another excuse will come up. That's not just with Mustangs or Camaro's....thats with Honda's Mitsu's V-Dubs...hell anything that races.

Its the nature of the beast. And it always will be.
I agree, and we'd rather not have blind fanboys on either side trolling here.

There are a lot of good people on this forum but it is somewhat soured by the few extreme fanboys. That type of behavior isn't even tolerated on the Mustang forums that i visit the most. I think it's up to the mods to stop that kind of stuff.

yes, the mods can really make the forum... The Mustang Collective that 2K05GT is talking about (and the only Mustang forum I still visit) was founded on the simply principal of no bashing... You see the Mustang Collective started out as the 4.0 Collective (4.0 being the V6 motor in the 2005+ Mustang). I am member #10, so I was there at the very beginning... basically there was a few of us that got sick and tired of hearing "you should have got a V8" every single time we asked a performance question about the 4.0 V6... gets a little tiring after the millionth time!

So the 4.0 Collective was born! Very strict rules on bashing, personal attacks, etc. The Mods did and still do a great job! As the 4.0 Collective started to grow, other Mustangs started signing up... so there was a GT section... a new edge section, a fox section... It was then decided to drop the 4.0 and just go by The Mustang Collective... all this while retaining the civilized, no bashing policy... Now I've done a number of Mustang forums.. but none like the Collective...

I've only been here a very short time... I do see some V6 bashing here, but it is no where near as bad as most of the other Mustang forums.....

I have owned both Camaros and Mustangs... I am not a fanboy... I will buy which ever model more meets my needs and tastes at the time of purchase. Had an 89 Camaro.... like it better than the Stangs at that time... Like my 2002 Mustang better than the 02 camaros..... had my 2005 Mustang... and now I like the 2010 Camaro a lot better than the 2010 Mustang...

As for me, i really tend to stay out of the "vs" debates and arguments... 99.9% of the time you are talking to a brick wall...

Life's short... enjoy your ride... and let other enjoy theirs... ok... well, except for the Ricers... LOL

Heck my V6 beat a Mustang Shelby GT yesterday!

It was 15.224 to 15.226!! Got him by .002!!! LOL! And yes the Mustang belongs to a friend of mine who just had his absolutely worst launch and spun like crazy... he just happened to do it against my car and while the tape was rolling! LOL! And yes, he redeemed himself later...

But I'm sure everyone that see that thinks their V6 will take down any GT...

HAha ! GOOD KILL !

It is what it is...you get caught slippin, you lose ! I have always said, and will always say,

"Race what ya brung, and hope you brung enough!"

But yes. I see your point. Extremes will point to this and go "See !!! V6 Camaro WAXES a GT !!!! see ! see !" There was forum poster...KarFan I believe that said it best. Do not remember the direct quote but this is what I got from it.

"Pulling up you tube times does not mean your going to go out and do the same thing in your car" That was pretty much the meat of it. And its true. because someone else can run 12secs in brand x does not mean YOU will run that time in the same time. Racing takes practice just like anything else. So if your not doing it...do not compare yourself to someone who is.

But again good kill ! hey as a famous movie guy said...(gets into deep slow vin diesel voice)

"It does'nt matter if you win by a inch or a mile....winning is winning !!"

Nice run. It's always great to catch someone sleeping at the light.

I like Mid Mich. I used to race there a 5-6 years ago.

I am not an expert but have found that many people on forums claiming this beat that and that beat this are talking out their arse!!!Some of them have never even owned or driven the kind of car they are hyping or bashing. They only wish they had one of these cars so they could participate in at least a half brained manner. Some of the things they say are kind of funny though and they are not to hard to spot. The 2010 Camaro's are creating a lot of controversy out there. 426 horses at 38K MSRP. The '09 Mustang GT's will not beat this car but with the Mustang track pack you may not beat them by as much as you think. Put a good driver against a bad driver and anything can happen.
I feel for the Mustang GT owners, they have pretty much owned the american muscle car market for the last 7 years [ excluding the Vette ] and now they have some real competition. Now a smart GT owner would have a supercharger thrown on his car and maybe change the rear end gear ratio, exhaust etc., then spank those Camaro's and tell them their Mustang is stock. Or they could just sell the Mustang and buy a Camaro.
Either way works.

Us GT owners...well we are not so worried. A GT enthusiast already knew what the camaro would bring to the table. It was discuss when the Camaro was announced. So those who wanted to compete have already done the necessary mods to do so. IE bump to stroke engines, or F/I. Some people do not care and just want to enjoy what they have. Others will wait and see what the 5.0 brings.

Any of these decisions will not be look upon as "OMG what do I do ???" type decisions...any true enthusiast will stay loyal to whatever brand they chose, much like the Camaro guys here on this forum. So for we mustang owners who may have the 05 platform or even older, well rest assure we are happy with our purchase.

The camaro and dodge cars bring back the days of true American muscle ruling roads. What else could be better than that ? These discussions prove it true. Great info, some heated some not, but everyone enjoying what they hold true.

As for me, I am prepared. Not because camaro was coming, but I love to mod my cars. Every mustang I ever owned, (4) have been F/I. Except of course my 65 which has a built 351w in it...but the 97,03 Cobra, and now my 08, were supercharged. Its great to put your touch on a car and truly call it your own.

So yes, I am pretty happy with my 08. It looks the way I want it to, I have great suspension and performance, and the power to most cars in their place. What more do I need ? For Songsj: no need to say your stock. Hell one look at my car and no way on earth would anyone believe its stock ! Its the old rule....and I have said it many times.

"Run what ya brung, and hope ya brung enough !"

So if a camaro or dodge, or import wants to step to the plate, wants to take on the Wolf, well.......step on up, or keep your child in the yard until its grown ! Win or lose, I'm going to have fun

Car domain in sig btw.

The same holds true for anyone with a performance car if you care about winning as vehicles in stock trim are never the fastest for long everyone has the aftermarket and for those that don't care are probably not reading here.

I have a 2SS on order for my fiance, she has always wanted a Camaro, and I am excited for her to have the car, color, tranny she wants.

For me...I am gonna wait to drive the 2011 Ford Mustang Gt, 5.0, with a 6 speed. I think it is gonna be a great car....until then I will help her enjoy the SS.

Both are great, fun, American cars.

Does your fiance really need 400 horses Dakota???

Good move on that Mustang......I have a feeling the 2011 GT is gonna be the undisputed king of muscle.....unless Dodge comes out with the 6.4 500HP Hemi
