I can't remember if I posted that I just recently bought a new pistol. A Taurus PT640 PRO .40. It is a compact and I got it from academy for $285. I shot it today about 150 rds. Amazing little gun from 30 ft. Great grouping and never jammed. I am very confident with it now as my conceal carry weapon. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact. My friend had the exact gun in 9mm and it shoots good as well.

^^ i'll have to look into that one. i tried out that Kahr PM40 & apparently i'm too wussy to reliably pull the slide back. actually, i was in a wreck when i was a kid that messed up my left hand a little, but oh well.

i did try a Reuger LC9 & it felt pretty good. what are y'all's thoughts on that gun?

Anyone have opinions on an ACOG? While I am at it- might as well ask for opinions on different companies for suppressors as well? (for 5.56)

The Acog is a very good sight. While I was in Iraq I personally witnessed a marine sniper with an Acog on a standard issue m16A-3 hit and kill an insurgent at 700 meters. We lased the building and it was right at 697 meters. Awesome sight in the right hands.

ACOGs are great unless you cannot grasp the binden aiming concept. A fellow LEO had one and loved it until he had to deal with an armed suspect at very close range. He went back to an aimpoint. I have shot both and it really depends on what distance you are shooting. An acog will never be as fast on target acqusition as a red dot under 25 yds or so. ACOGs shine at distance because of the magnification. They do ake some 1.5x and 2.0x models though. Shoot both and see which you like. Another friend went to Afghanistan for DOD purposes. I lent him a 1.5x ACOG and an aimpoint m4. He tried both on an hk416 and sent the ACOG back. I personally use an aimpoint h1 on my patrol rifle.

Here is a couple we shot today. Bought my wife a crappy little Hi-Point 9mm, which actually impressed the heck out of us today. First time out with it, rapid fired it with no jamb.... Also yesterday I bought a Ruger LCP 380. Will be my little carry buddy. Also shot my Mosin rifle, it was the first time for that rifle too. Nice shooter.

I have an ACOG on my DPMS 20" AR15 back home. Great sight, I love it. Sturdy, crystal clear glass, an amazing sight. I preferred my EOTech when in Iraq, so never used on there. The ACOG is usually a 4x (but Trijicon makes many others).

You can't go wrong if you're willing to drop the dough.

Thanks for some of the info guys. I intend to get the RMR mount for better target acquisition at short range. For now though I'm just going to buy a cheap BSA red dot to get the job done while I save.

Have you ever shot with an ACOG? It's only 4x. It's designed to be dual purposed as a CCO and as a ranged sight. I'd save the money on anything else and put it towards the suppressor. You might want to look into a quality quick release mount like from La Rue tactical if you only have one AR and might want to swap optics. You won't have to re-zero every time you take it off. But if you don't plan on anything like that anytime soon, I'd just get the optic and get familiar with it. Take advantage of any return policy you find. Also, I bought mine used on AR15.com from another member... was a $1200 sight I paid $800 for, mint condition, original boxing etc.

AR15.com also has a nice NFA and Class 3/Title 2 section and TONS of info on suppressors and the process. I can only help with a .22lr suppressor because I'm on the hunt haha.

Good luck!

My newest addition Gen 4 Glock 26

trijicon night sights

First Day at the Range with it 21' all the scattered ones are rapid fire shots. I still need to work on my trigger control most of my shots are slightly low/left.
