What I can't figure is why 130 people say they want to DRAG their cars in the signup thread, and then Friday and Sat. morning only eight show up. Such an awesome venue to legally run your car over 100 mph even if you have no interest in competing. Guess I was one of them this year
but would have test and tuned if my drivetrain wasn't snapped in two.

Either they are too intimidated to try, don't want to break stuff (that does happen) or don't want to spend the money.

Yea, I agree. I think next year we will see a much larger participation in the racing. Granted its a long haul from here for us but if I do make it down there I will be there racing and if all goes well this winter Ill enter my car in the car show too. Anyone ever win a car show award and racing award at the same fest yet?

I will say that the track was top notch, no doubt about it. Saturday morning after the down pour when they got the track dried and prepped was insane. If I would have went for it I could have had a new personal best...or been one of the ones with a broken axle, so I just kept doing what I had been doing instead of pushing the limits.

And you are right about why some didn't do it. But then why even say you are going to?

I don't meant to be contrary, but the track was really bad for cars running drag radials and slicks. The street tires totally messed up the surface all weekend. It really doesn't work well to mix cars with street tires with those with DRs and slicks.

Perhaps for 1300hp beasts such as yours but I had no issues on my drag radials other then my own mistakes. Of course its not ideal to have street tire cars on the track but this isn't no big nhra event we're talking about here.

LOLOLOLOL. So you have an ungodly amount of power in a car designed for much less and you consider that a design flaw? You cant be serious.

A lot of people with a lot less power than I have break axles because of this issue. Notice they didn't use that design in the COPO. So, for a track car it is a problem.

The axles are a known problem. They don't hold up to drag racing at all. Stock cars have broken axles racing. Shit happens.

I am glad to see I am not the only one that had an issue with tha "design flaw" comment.
My thought was, who in there their right mind puts that much power& torque into a car and expects the OEM rear end to hold up? Heck even GM beefed up the COMPLETE rear end to handle 580HP, not just bigger axles

That's not what I did and that's not what I said. I don't have an OEM rear end in my car. That would be insane to put that much power ton OEM rear end. We have a 9" with beefy axles and a carbon fiber driveshaft. If you read my post, what I said was that the geometry of the rear end is such that it just won't hold big power... even with upgraded parts.

Of course we are putting a lot more power to the rear end than the stock parts were designed for (which I also said in my post). What I was saying was that we have figured out the issue that is created when big power is applied to that geometry and we now know what to do next to correct it.

I was just trying to look at the positive side from last weekend. We will now be able to make some improvements to the car to have better results next time.

You didn't mention geometry anywhere in there, that is what is misunderstood and misinterpreted. Here is what Exactly you said.

Our driver had to pedal the car a bit to get it down the track at 9:05 so that we would have a qualifying run. That is a slow pass for the car though. We can and will do better. This is all part of racing.

The good news is that the guys at IPS figured out the real solution to the issue. It's actually a GM design flaw that doesn't allow the rear end to handle really big power. The guys at IPS know what to do to fix it. We will have it ready for the LSX event in Bowling Green next month and will be able to really put the power to the ground.

On the other hand, the engine is making big power and it's running great.

I can't say enough good things about how the team at IPS handled things this weekend. They worked their butts off working on the car. They never give up. They are awesome.

We'll be back better than ever. It was a good test and tune weekend for us in that we know what to do next to make things better.
LIKe I said before, even GM completely changed the rearend on the ZL1 for only 580HP

Not meaning to be inflamatory, just pointing out what you did say and why it got misunderstood.
