Very cool to see the two identical cars, different years, great pics!

I did drive both in auto though. I have also driven the 2007 Mustang Hertz Shelby.

The SS has a noticeable increase in power over the LT. The Hertz SHelby felt faster than the LT by a little bit, maybe the weight, but not as fast as the SS.

I would say, wait a bit and get the 2 SS. The two places that the Mustang has the Camaro beat is in the Dash Light "My Color" Feature (if you even had that option), and the stock exhaust sound. The Camaro SS is very Quiet compared to the Mustang. I will be doing the exhaust within 4 weeks of picking the car up...............without a doubt.

We got to do a test drive comparison between the Mustang and Camaro "by accident"...

We live in NY, but were picking up the Camaro in Virginia...we bought the Camaro from a dealer/friend who had moved away yrs ago from NY to VA...

Anyway, we took Amtrak from NY to DC and rented a car to drive to the dealer to pick up the Camaro...long story, short, when we went to pick up the rental car, the rental agent asked if we wanted to take the 2010 Mustang V8 for the same price as the original, cheaper car we had reserved for the short trip to Virginia...it would cost the same...

"Hell yeah", we said...SO we got to do a "real time" test drive of both vehicles and the Camaro won, HANDS DOWN!!!...Thank God!!!...can you imagine our shock and disappointment if things had worked out the opposite???...

The Camaro felt a lot more comfortable and had a much softer and smoother ride...the Mustang V8 was just as fast as our Camaro V6...the Camaro was "all that" and more...the Camaro felt roomier too and the interior was far superior, IMHO...

Buy the Camaro, you will not regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

I'm sure you will have no trouble selling the Mustang as it looks "mint"...

Ive had no less than six 5.0 Mustangs,in stock form they were all just as slow as my V6 Camaro.

What was your question again?

Oh yeah, get the 6 speed makes it more fun to drive.

Automatics were invented so women could drive.

Automatics are also really good for bracket racing, only fun unless you have some serious power in front of them.

I had one Auto 5.0 Mustang...lame!

Your going to have to wait a while (trans issues) ontop of being back of line...so by that time the new 2010/2011 5.0 mustang will be out...nice pair btw:

I think you should get the 2SS. Not that the 2LT is bad but if you are used to the Mustang GT, I think you should move up to the SS camaro. I am waiting until I can afford the car I want, and I think you should do the same. You will get a lot of that extra money for the SS back when you sell the car down the road anyway. As far as the 5.0L mustang, that will probably be more expensive than the camaro when/if it comes, and provide comparable performance.

you can get a 1ss that is about the same price as the 2LT. 1ss same as 2ss minus leather and bluetooth. leather can be added down the road

I am sort of a kindred spirit. I am picking up my 2SS/RS M6 this evening, and after the trade I will be without a Mustang GT for the first time since 1989. I have a 2007 I am trading, and have no reservations AT ALL. I am keeping my orange/black Mach 1 as a stable mate for my black/orange SS, however. I say go for it--get yourself a Camaro!!

To get a 2LT to match your GT's performance, you'll need to give it a turbocharger or supercharger, which should be possible for less than an SS pricetag sometime soon. Most places are still developing their kits for it.

I must say my husband just bought a2010 mustang gt off the showroom and is really feeling very nervous about the arrival of my camaro!
