Funny stuff. Might as well laugh I guess, can't cry.

As has been beat to death, it's a real dilemma. I don't have the tools nor gumption to fix it myself. I don't trust a dealer with changing my oil, so at least I do that. And of course, I'd rather not spend the $3000+. I'm in the proverbial, "tight spot."

Has anyone come across a carbon fiber blend door or know how much it would cost to have a 3D printer version fabricated in carbon fiber?

I'm thinking that aluminum version mentioned in post #111 is the HOT SETUP! Not too pricey either.

Maybe call around to one of those mobil tech dudes. You might find somebody who can come out to the house and do the "access mod" for you.

I figure with the dash board removed, who really needs that thing anyway? I don't care how fast I'm going. I figure as long as the engine is running, I have an oil pressure. I have earbuds for my music from my phone, I'll roll down the windows in the summer, buy a hibachi and make a fire in a small pit where the dashboard used to be in the winter. Done!

Well yeah, you could do that.

Coming around to that idea. So I call a local dealer and he quotes me $1,012.00 labor. Knowing that if I booked the job I'd inevitably get the call..."Uh, Mr.Mojo, we've underestimated a bit..." I ask him if he's sure...long story...he hadn't even finished doing the research and was up to $3K. Said the dash removal flat rates at 8 hrs alone.

This is exactly why I'm going to go under the dash and cut the hole and change the door that way when the weather gets cooler here in Scottsdale.
Cannot stand rattles.
Going to also wait until my dad comes in town too for the help of an extra set of hands.
