Looking at the run route and our route I do not see how the two would interfere with each other as we will be on the 202 and the runners will not.

We would be leaving the hotel at 8:30am...given everyone is ready.
I sure hope this does not pose a problem. Yes, everyone would be running...but would people still be on the hwy then?? |

ADOT would be the ones to ask if they think it will be a problem.

Tag, I agree that we should probably check with ADOT about what it's been like the past few years. I wouldn't just assume though that the freeways will be fine by that time. ~25,000 is a lot of people and I know the race has a rolling start meaning that it starts at 7am, but some people aren't even getting there and starting the race until 7:30 or 8am. Remember guys, I've been there the past 3 years and I've seen the craziness on the highways trying to get there. Also, they may have permanent closures on some off ramps of the highway for this that will still be there when you are driving and will have been causing traffic delays all morning and possibly not cleared up by then.
I've got an idea.... cruise at like 12pm after I get there |

I agree ADOT and the Police escorts should be involved here - If they are ok with it ultimately it will come down to a timing issue and our long line of traffic will impede normal traffic flow. The 202 is 6 lanes and can accommodate a lot of traffic. As I see it we will be arriving when most should already be at the PAT RUN [start] and exiting the area way before people from the PAT RUN are leaving.
I think we are OK here but it’s all in the timing to be 100% sure. I will be driving this route tonight and will comment on any troubles I see - nothing like a dry run to be sure.

Ok here is my report - everything looked fine we can stage cars along price road and enter the 101. I took a couple of incar videos Preview 1 is the Pat Tilman Run area and Preview 2 shows we will have a challenge for turn C. -
CamaroFestii Rally preview 1 – Driving Turn B on Tags map post#92 This shows that the Pat Tillman Run area should not be a problem.| CamaroFestii Rally preview 2 – Driving Turn C on Tags map post#92. This shows that the area necks down to a single lane – Kind of confusing because of the number of road signs. Road is Clearly marked with white paint designating I10 East – Driving on the lane marked I10 E gets you in the proper lane. Notice traffic may enter from the right and need to cross over. You’ll see an example of the merging lane when the song Roxanne starts to play.

Sat am was a natural choice since we would be missing the majority of traffic. We have to go with what would be best to get ADOT to say, "yes" and for TCM to say, "Sure...we'll provide the escort." The harder we make it on others, the more likely they would say no. I wish you could make it but hey...you'll have all weekend with us! Quote:

Man, I can't even tell you how appreciative I am of you doing this. You know, seeing all those 3 to 6 lane wide roads really has me more relaxed. Even if there is going to be traffic from the run rally, they will be off on the side. We can move over a couple lanes, I'm sure. MAYBE.... I shouldn't assume. I emailed TCM our new route today and showed them the changes. They have not yet gotten back to me, but I have a feeling since it's all HWY, it should be good. You see, they don't like lights. The main concern I have right now is this. We sent off all the info to the insurance company. We have to be insured, you know....and they have still not gotten back to us. I'm sure it's going to be a go. But this last minute shit is KILLING ME! I have TCM waiting on me so they can figure out how many officers they will need. I have ADOT waiting on me to make sure I have insurance before they can give us the permit. I mean...my hands are tied. This route looks very promising and will give everyone a nice drive. Sure, I see the embankments on the sides, but all in all, there are some good views and we will need to be paying more attention to the roads and what's in front of us and behind us when we do this. You guys realize that this is not just a minor deal. This is going to be HUGE and people will be stopping to watch this convoy of 300 PLUS Camaros come through...lol I appreciate it again, man....MORE than you know. Make sure you meet up with me at some point at the fest. I OWE YOU! |

Awesome video, thanks for putting Tag's mind at ease. I didn't mean to start a big commotion over it, just wanted to give the heads up Definitely try to keep away from the right side of the freeway to stay clear of the off-ramp/on-ramp traffic in that area. Ever more jealous that I'm going to miss it!

Oh, we NEED to think of EVERYTHING that could come our way! No way no how...no commotion. If we didn't know and didn't take that into account, holy crap, man!
So thank you! |

Wow. Thanks for posting that video. If a picture is worth 1,000 words then this video is worth a 1,000,000. I consider last year's cruise a pinnacle of the event because flat-out it is just something you never see. 3-1/2 mile long line of 2010 Camaros. The officers used our car to mark the end of the line (since it was NOT a Camaro) so by the time we came throught there were people in front of their houses, businesses, intersections, stop signs - everywhere, checking out all of the Camaros and cheering ! I have never seen so many children smiling along the side of the road.
Here is a clip near the very beginning of it last year: So a HUGE Thank You to TAG and everyone supporting this effort. It is pretty incredible. |
