Can't argue with the $/hp on the LS9 cam. However, with a little bigger cam, you can see good gains all across the board, while still keeping stock like manners. Trying to quantify it is tough because of all the other mods that go along with it. A little more duration on the intake side along with more lift on both sides can get you quite a bit more power even with less boost. Less boost can allow for more timing. The $'s add up though. I understand drawing a line in the sand and staying behind it.

I was all set to put a Maggie on my L99. Now? Is 9 psi of boost going to be too much for the stock internals?

No....boost level isn't the limiting factor. Power level and tune is.

I thought boost was the limiting factor as opposed to power level. I understand tune is everything.

But with stock internals and, with more boost, depending on the gas to be used and whether meth will be added, the tune needs to be programmed to compensate for the increased work load that the higher boost is creating.

In contrast to that scenario, if you add a more aggressive cam, headers, and maybe a more free-flowing exhaust, the boost will decrease a little bit but the power level will increase because of the increased efficiency of the engine. Here, the power level increase is actually good for the engine. (I think)

If, however, you wanted to get the same power level as the cam/header/exhaust car mentioned above, by merely rasing the boost, boost would be the limiting factor because the engine would be working harder to make that extra power.

As you said, tune is a limiting factor. But, I would think that the tune would really depend on the amount of boost. On a stock bottom end, the higher the boost, the lower the timing. (I think, please correct me if I'm wrong).

Perhaps boost is less of a limiting factor when IAT's are low and AFR is good throughout the powerband, but I would still think that increased power goals would be limited by boost when the engine's internals are not forged.

Man that thing is making some serious power!!!! Thats maggie w/ headers, cai and a blower cam level I believe!

Can`t wait for mine to arrive! I`m hoping it ships soon.

Tim,
How much boost do you expect to lose by adding headers& exhaust, and adding a cai which should help boost. So if you have 9psi now totally stock do you think it will drop 1psi, 2psi w/ those mods added? Any idea?

Also how was the a/f holding up, did you seem to be running out of fuel pressure in the higher rpms? Thanks for taking the time to post all of this info for us. I for one really appreceate it!

so if you add the 3.7 gears your torque curve will rise wright. looks like the whipple has less torque compared to the maggie.

Looks awesome, nice numbers
Everything in that kit looks like its built stout, I like the big tensioner, the factory looking hose coverings and that blower Maybe its just the pictures, but it must have taken the whole shop crew to set that thing in the engine bay

Can't wait to see the results with the cam and headers should be sweet

I have to say I got a chance to see this supercharger on the car at TandT today and it really looks good. This was a really clean install and it seems a little bigger and more robust looking than some of the other SC's I have seen.

And I have to add Tim had a couple of other camaros in his shop that sounded like they were on steroids when they started them up! Hell those cars made my stock 2SS sound like a freakin' Prius! The good thing is I left my car there for the day getting some work done and I think my car picked up 20hp just sitting in that shop!

...and I think I saw Don Pruedome driving away from there.

Great cars up there Tim
