GM sometimes digs its heels in when it comes to replacing an engine. There was a news report here on a Chevy truck with a bad engine. GM admitted it was under warranty, covered, and not driveable, but they simply said they were not going to fix it.

day 19 and no news yet?

Whoa, Shaun, that sucks man! Day19 and still no news? Jeez, it's hard not knowing eh? And to think that summer is now gone, fall will be quick and winter approaches so no Camaro for you during these last few nice east coast driving days! Where's your consideration for lost time with your Camaro? I think GM places too little importance on the quality time we actually spend with our Camaros...when they are gone it really sucks.

Well, I have to go do some errands, I will hop into the Impala loaner car and pretend I am much older than I am.... I miss my Camaro! :(

eB

ps. thanks for the bumps Cali!

Im happy everyone is supporting you Eric, itll be much easier for me when time comes for me to go into negotiations which if what you told me is right I'll definitely have to do so.

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!

I'd be asking for them to make payments on the car while it's being worked out...That loaner is not an equal replacement for the Camaro. You are paying monthly for a sports car and insurance on a sports car. Instead they have given you a 65yr old mans cruising car. They gave me an Impala while replacing my onstar unit, and I was less then thrilled.

That's not completely true. My grandparents had an engine blow with about 45k on it, but out of warranty (years wise). The dealer felt that the engine shouldn't have blown so soon and got GM to pay for half of the repair. That was without anyone raising a fuss.

Its hard to believe that GM cannot figure out that issues like this one are why so many consumers have decided to buy "foreign" cars.

Nobody should have to put up with being treated so poorly after spending hard earned wages on a car that the manufacturer has bragged so much about the high quality of. I had a 2000 Grand Cherokee when they were brand new and Chrysler ended up buying it back from me after 4 events of it deciding to not run for no reason that could be found.

Is a lawyer an option? If not a PR campaign certainly should be started, and Jalopnik might be a good place to start.

Cool

Detroitboy, ineed I agree with you. Interestingly, Jalopnik is having a writing contest and I am writing a couple of stories that are GM related that are bound to be published, so public relations, here we go! eB

Its not hard to believe that this (relatively few that we know) amount of failures are happening compared to the amount of cars produced, but its hard to believe that GM is taking such poor care of their loyal customers considering the small amount of money (to them at least) that it would take to make the owners happy and keep them as a permanent part of the GM family as a result.

In this case specifically it will obviously cost them more to do take care of the problem the way they are going about it instead of buying the car back and using it for crash testing or whatever later on in addition to the longterm costs of losing customers over it.

Wake up GM....I have family members who depend on you to stay in business.
