V6 shares mostly the same drivetrain components from the SS. That's why there's only 120 lbs of weight difference, instead of 400 like in the challenger.

It could easily handle 400+ horsepower, especially since we know the SS drivetrain can handle 650.

The generic 'V6 customers' aren't looking for a V6, they are looking at price. Time will tell, but all indications are the ecoboost Mustang is going to be in a higher price bracket than the LS/LT Camaro.

Well said.

And in terms of performance/price, the V6 camaro is a really good deal. I know the Cobalt SS/TC is a bit faster for about the same price, but its not RWD, and doesn't look 1/4 as nice.

Im with Xanthos on all points. The Ecoboost is gonna cost the same as an 8, So people thinking "oh look its a 6 and get all that hp!" And when they see the price theyll freak out. So comparing them isnt right. Jst because its a 6. Its boostd for one, and its gonna cost upwards of 30 grand. OK first boost your 6 camaro and you just DESTROYED you little ecoboost. And you used the money you saved by getting the 6.

When the Mustang updates their motors the Camaro V6 drops to the low end. You can always mod your car to keep up, but then you should of just gotten the SS anyway if you're even considering mods.

I seriously doubt the ecoboost will be over 30k in a mustang. seriously. it might be 28 or 29k but who cares.

the ecoboost will be priced at V8 prices to not cannibalize regular v6 sales. the ecoboost will be an alternative on the GT for people who want power but better mpg.

I think it is, actually....except for the mated-transmission, the car/chassis was designed to handle ungodly amounts of power, that doesn't change depending on the motor chosen. Why do you think it weighs so much?

The V6 people are going to have a LOT of fun modifying this car.

I agree that the ecoboost v6 for the mustang is going to be very powerful and I think provide a good bang for the buck. I do have to agrue that it will serve as the replacement for the v8. I think the new 5.0 coyote motor is going to serve that role while the ecoboost will just replace the current 6. I think ford took notice of the v8 sales on the camaro. Either was you go 6 or 8. The fun is just starting, even with CAFE on our backs, and no one (besides v6 challenger people) are going to be disappointed.

Has it even been stated in print that the Coyote and Boss motors are even going into the 2011 Mustang?

My ordered car is a 2SS RS that has an MSRP of 35380.00

The 2LT RS with the same options comes in $6,600.00 less at 28780.00.

I struggled over this in my mind more than I did what color to choose. I am a practical person and like the idea of a nice, smooth V6 with better mileage, cheaper insurance, and a lower up from cost. In fact, I had pretty much decided on the 2LT. My wife, all of my friends and coworkers, and a little devil on my shoulder told me "if you are going to get a sportscar, get the V8." Down the road, if I was forced to sell it for some reason, I think the SS will have held its value better. Other than that my only rationalization is that it's only money, and I can afford it.

Actually the resale will probably be better on the v6 not the 8 because once all the enthusiasts get the 8 all the regular masses will purchase or want a v6 with all the amenities. So sorry but the 8 wont hold as much residual

If it's anything like the Mustang, the V8 will hold its value better than the 6

Yes, but I think that's more because the V8 is more expensive. Which could quite possibly effect the camaro as well.

With a more expensive car, there is more incentive to go used - meaning better resale value, due to higher demand. Not applicable in all situations, but its something to consider. We won't know the real resale value for a number of years at least.
