Modding does not void your warranty against manufacturing defect.
This is the LAW! Contrary to what GM and MANY people of this forum would have you believe.
Huge props to GM for doing the right thing!!

Mine looked exactly the same. It is textbook brittle fracture due to improper heat treatment.

And they refused your claim based on what?

Here's what mine looks like at the moment:
Different car (all stock), not the one in my sig.

Modifications. And, them refusing my claim based only on this with no further investigation is ILLEGAL... The Consumer Protection Agency and Better Business Bureau exist because of these kinds of things.

Are you not going to try to have it fixed under warranty?

It's going in on Wed I'll keep you posted. If they bounce the claim I'm getting an RPM transmission.

Mods or not they should warranty it as it's a factory defect.

Hugger and Max (and anyone else with a busted shaft),
If you can, will you please take a pic of your trans tag and post it here:

Is this tag only seen if the trans is out of the car?

Not sure. It might be possible to see it with the shifter removed using a mirror or snake camera. Here's a pic to help locate.

See now this is the way to take care of customers. By the way are you tuned? It's just odd how some people get them replaced and some don't.

I was able to have mine replaced with my current mods, but only if i agreed to have my ecm reflashed to stock... so I think some of it has to do with the GM regional rep too. Its ultimately their decision on what is approved or not.
