How are you complaining when the exact car you want is coming out in a matter of months. It is not like GM is never coming out with the car you want things take time.

It seems odd that you 'just' purchased a 2011 Camaro 2SS... If that is the case, then surely you will have known about the ZL1 and when it is due to market.

I can understand wanting 'something now', and you have mentioned that you have the funds to pay for the Camaro that you want... so why didn't you buy something to have fun with now, and then the get rid of it and buy a ZL1 in a little over 6 months time.

Maybe that is the tack you should take now... consider the 2SS you have now as a 'fun' car till the car you really want comes out in the the first quarter of 2012.

My suggestion, for what it's worth, is to not 'waste' money modding your 2SS being as you have bought the car now, enjoy it for what it is, so you can get top dollar for it at the end of the year and then order you a ZL1.

That way you will have what you wanted in the first place. It was simple impatience that got you where you are right now, being as knowledge about the ZL1 has been around for a while now. A little patience and you would have gotten what you wanted first time round... just saying. But again, that is only my opinion, and we all have them.

Hope what ever you decide works out for you.

Sounds like Jesus preachin' the gospel to me... I feel a rapture comin' on!

So... Jeep huh?
Why are side-by-sides taking off in the market of all terrain vehicles? Because the Wrangler has become an overgrown, "ready for Desert Storm" out of the box tiger with "soccer mom friendly" on road handling.

Read Cappa's note in the latest JP Magazine? Explaining that we'd gone too far in not only what we do to monster up our Wranglers... but even with what is coming straight outta the factory.

Chasing Hummers? Why bother! The stock TJ was affectionately referred to as a Hummer recovery vehicle. A modified JK Unlimited (with the Hemi everyone keeps screaming for) is pretty much a Hummer killer. Not my idea of a Wrangler.

And then there's this...
If every Wrangler came from factory ready to tackle the moon, what are the modifiers left to do??

Answer: start modifying the side by sides.
Oh wait!...

I would say this in an open letter to Chevrolet....one of my other hobbies are Jeeps. Jeep for years built shallow versions of what real Jeep enthusiasts wanted in order to satisfy the bean counters. They would never build a Jeep Wrangler that was actually a very capable off-roader, at least not REAL off roading.

For years Jeep enthusiasts asked for stronger axles, they asked for locked differentials, they asked for capable suspensions etc. Jeep never built it and the aftermarket prospered. Jeep FINALLY capitulated and built the Rubicon. They built it almost begrudgingly and expected it to be an utter failure due to the costs involved. This model featured Dana 44 axles front and back, electronic lockable axles, electronic swaybar disconnect....in other words...a very capable Jeep.

It cost more sure...but Jeep enthusiasts FLOCKED to this model Jeep and purchased as many as Jeep could make. The extra price tag made this model very profitable for Jeep and they continue to build them today.
And GM is answering in less than 3 model years with the ZL1 compared to the years it took JEEP. That doesn't even count the SLP's that were sitting in dealer showrooms with warranties over the last year and half.

Also you bring up the original ZL1 which there were I believe 69 of total. COPO Camaros all had very low numbers as well and still not mass produced or available to just anyone who walked into a dealer.

As for the green, great color, but it probably won't be on the ZL1. Build what you got.

I just thank my lucky stars that this current muscle car trend even exists. Prior to 2009, a vette was really all that GM offered that I liked.

....and now the ZL1 is coming out. I have to wait 10 months or so for it, but hey, I've been waiting for a GM muscle car for about 30 years, so another 10 months isn't gonna kill me.

Yeah but that doesn't matter because like he said (probably truthfully, not as a joke), "as long as I get mine," and screw the rest of us.

Instead of purchasing a car you feel doesn't meet up to your standard I would've suggested going to WWW.NICKEYCHICAGO.NET and have them build a Supercamaro the way you wanted it.

The ZL1 seems to be the project on the horizon to fill that need straight from GM/Chevy. I guess it took them longer to fill the void they didn't realize was going to be there. Remember that powertrain warranty they're offering is 6-years and it's more than just slapping a bigger motor in the car and saying it's got a warranty. I would rather use aftermarket than stuff from the dealer. Stuff from the dealer may have a longer warranty, but it comes at a much increased price and isn't any better.
Dude nothing to do with the thread but your car is sweet! What kind of rims and tires do you have on it!The tires look like mudtires lol

Since when is 426hp childs-play?

My first car had barely more than 100hp. My second car (which I still have) has barely more than 200. Now this one has 400. And there's people out there saying 500hp isn't enough.

I mean, really, how fast do you need to be going in reverse into the ditch/tree before you realize it's too much power for you?

Heck, my first new car was a 1973 Pinto (let the jokes begin) with a 1600cc 4-cyl eng with a whopping 54hp.

A far cry from my '11 2SS/RS M6 Vert's 426hp.

yeeeee Hawwwww

I picture the OP with his head out the window of his highly modified Camaro yelling to his friends, "Hey y'all, watch this!"
