The only one I have seen done the same day on the same dyno was by a performance shop and they said they had 87 in the tank in one of the cars, can't remember which. Didn't really give a good comparison.

If all you care about is which car is the fastest get the Mustang. To me, the Mustang is nothing to look at. Its basically invisible on the road to most people.

The Camaro looks 100% better and it can be modded to be as fast as you want. Even if the Camaro didn't exist, I wouldn't buy a Mustang GT.
I'd probably go with a Challenger.

Mustang rear end is so high that it seems like it's assuming the position for the Camaro to go BOHICA.

Bend Over Here I Come Again

or a rally car.....

For 2010 JD Power's overall ratings for Midsize Sporty were
1 Mustang-Award Recipient
2 Camaro
3 Challenger

For 2011
1 Challenger-Award Recipient
2 Camaro
3 Mustang

The Challenger really stepped up its game and even though the Camaro came in second again, it was also an improvement over last year.

I happen to have one foot in each camp. One camaro. One Saleen Mustang.

They are different cars. The Camaro is more sophisticated. The IRS whispers in your ear. The SS brakes are excellant. The Camaro loves to be driven.

The Mustang feels much lighter than it actually is. The three link doesn't whisper in your ear. It screams Oh Shxx! Even with the Brembo upgrade the brakes are just OK. The Mustangs just begs you to toss it around.

With two highly modified great American Muscles Cars I am a very spoiled guy. In our track testing with Hot Rod we found the Camaro to be just thismuchfaster. If I had to buy only one I would have an American Muscle Car with a Bow Tie in my garage.

If I had a dollar for everytime you posted this I could buy a 2011 Camaro. Get over it man!!
I'd like to see a stock 2012 Boss (and when it comes out a 2012 ZL1) against both of those modded 2010's. Time marches forward. Lol

When I get my hands on my ZL1 it won't take long to get new numbers. Until then

The BOSS has an excellent engine and differential, but the changes to the suspension are pretty much a yawn. They lowered the rear 1mm YAWN. They installed a a rear bar the same size as the bar we ran a year earlier YAWN. They added the a brace that duplicates the function of our triangulated front brace YAWN. The upgraded brakes are not even in the same league as what we ran YAWN. RWHP is about the same as ours YAWN.

The ZL1 with the update rear suspension will be a big improvement for rear sway bar function. The driveline will be better than what we ran. The MR will be a huge improvement.

ZL1 vs Boss -- I'll take the ZL1

You should stop yawning and wake up. Lol
The Camaro is getting owned by the "inferior" Mustang in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Look at the size of the two cars. The Camaro takes to the track at a HUGE disadvantage to most every car listed with the exception of the Subaru. Size does matter in the physics of racing. Having written that, My Mustang is a cozy ride. The Camaro is far more comfortable for anything but a short hop.

Don't get me wrong. The Camaro is not a slam dunk over the Mustang. I give a slight edge for refinement in the IRS and interior room to the Camaro. That is why I would pick the Camaro. Then I get in the Sync vs OnStar. The functionality and features of Sync are far more robust. On the other hand when I leave my phone on the shop bench I still have my OnStar phone and navigation.

So what are you going to put up against your future ZL1? Hopefully not that antiquated 4.6L. Please get a boss or borrow a Griggs GR-40 car so you can finally silence all of us haters...j/k

I'm really looking forward to the new ZL1's results as I just may jump ship and trade in for a ZL1 especially if they try to copy Ford and go with forged pistons on their version of a 550 horsepower supercharged V8, so guys that just cant leave anything alone can turn up the wick with supercharger upgrade without having to worry about blowing chunks of hypertetic pistons out the exhaust. That is the main reason why I bought my GT500, not because it was kinda fast stock or for looks but because it could be pushed into supercar levels of performance for five grand due to the everything being able to support 800hp like the supersnake package all with stock parts.

I honestly think the ZL1 will be a better all around street/ strip/ track car especially with your suspension but its gonna be hard to turn my back on my GT500 which is capable of 23 pounds of boost and as you know more the formula for every pound of boost you get x amount of power.

I wish I could afford both but I'm most likely going to wait for ffrcobra_65's honest opinion since he's owns a 2011 GT500 PP, Maggie SS, and ZL1.

Owning a ZL1 is going to eventually feel like owing a SRT-8 once the mod bug bites. Both owners will be stuck at a given hp level until they decide to go with a forged bottom end build and that is going to suck and weigh heavy on owners especially when they are getting passed by modified high boost car's and trucks that came from the factory with FI and forged internals. Sorry if I sound like I'm going off a little too much on the ZL1, but its because its so freaking close to being my ideal street machine, I wish I knew someone at the engine assembly plant and I could give the piston and rod person my forged pieces in a box when it came time to build mine.

Not at all. My guess is the ZL1 will be over 600 at the crank. Shops like LPE are putting 600 to the ground with a pulley change and tune of the CTS-V. At that level, you are right. It is time to go forged.
