Well, I'll share my thoughts a bit.
Although I don't have a 2010 ordered yet, I do have a gen 4 6m. I also have a 07 SRT8 Magnum, and my brother in law has a new SRT8 6m Challenger. The Magnum is my first ever Mopar (I'm 58). Prior to that, strickly G.M. I can tell you the quality of the build on the Mag is as good as any of my G.M.s Although the instrument panel is a bit ho-hum, the rest of the interior ie. layout, material quality (specifically leather) is superior to any of my current G.M. cars. The DIS is exceptional, 0 to 60 timer, various operating parameters etc. Fit and finish are spot on. No squeaks/rattles. I can give the same responses to brother in laws Challenger. The 6 speed feels like my Camaro's, nice and crisp. The 6.1 in either car has a very strong bottom end off idle pull. Feels real good. The 6 speed Chally has a standard 3.91 rear end with a true posi and it breaks em loose w/ little effort. My B4C has the 3.42 posi and it doesn't feel as strong off the line. However, the LS1 winds up faster and, although we've not had a chance to square off, I think the Camaro will be faster through the 1/4. With that in mind, I'm confident the new Camaro will be somewhat quicker than the Chally. I have not had an opportunity to really compare the interior material quality (actually, as of this date, has anyone?) but, I really like the dash layout. My wife has a 08 Malibu and if the material and plastics are similar to that car, the Camaro will have the better interior. Not by much though. I feel that the Chally will have more rear legroom, if that is a concern. The Challenger is essentially a shortened LX (Magnum, Charger, 300) chassis and I believe because of this the Chally will feel much larger inside by virtue of its width. Styling aside, the decision likely will become....What do you want to see in the garage every morning? Myself? I,m looking forward to driving a SS 6m to see if it calls me. I am very fond of the styling, I like the interior layout, I think the price is a screaming bargain, so all the preliminarys have been met. We'll see.......... Rob |

i too was torn between other cars and the camaro. Since i have some time to wait till the lease on my trailblazer ss ends, and the camaro is not yet on the dealers lot, i thought i would test drive the other cars i was considering. When i went to the other dealerships for test drives, nobody would let me test drive what i wanted: Cadillac CTS-V
Pontiac G8 GXP Dodge Challenger SRT-8 Ford Mustang GT500 ( I know! ) I came in clean cut, driving a nice vehicle and was told by all, they would only let me test drive the cars once i had started the paperwork to purchase. I told them to go pound sand. One guy, Pontiac, told me it was because the car had 400+ hp, that i couldn't drive it. Anybody else having this problem? What gives? |

A local dealer told me that on a G8 GXP, I just laughed.
I didn't have a problem at the Dodge dealership.

I've decided to go with my first instinct, that I have had for 3 years now, to buy a Challenger!
As some have mentioned, if I did buy a Camaro and a Challenger pulled up next to me I WOULD wish that I had gotten it. The Camaro to me was a compromise due to money but as a real car guy I can't live with that. No matter what it takes and how much saving I have to do, I'll own a Challenger SRT8 some day and if I can't manage to get the SRT8 I won't give in and get something that is second best, even in my mind. Thank you guys very much for the honest responses that were posted in this thread.

Probably something like, "I'm sorry you wasted your money on a Challenger?!" Looks like a transmission tear down waiting to happen to me. Maybe that rear glass window might shatter at some point in 2 years too. Mistakes never happen in ones. Looks like you and the other guy will have a lot in common waiting at your dealerships for Dodge to put your cars back together.

You do know that the 6 speed manual is the same as in the Camaro. I guess camaro owners should now be prepared to take their glass transmissions in for repairs. |
