Downforce won't help this car in the 1/4 mile. MR suspension won't really help either other than perhaps a small bit on launch. Launch control can be beat by a good driver, so while it would help the masses it won't help the best of the best. As has been stated for a while, a modified SS would definitely be a more cost effective solution for the drag strip.

Okay. Now let's get some of those production cars out on VIR and see if the can match or beat GM's pre-production car times! I sure hope C&D include a ZL1 in this years Lightning Lap. Even better if they also include a 2012 GT500. (Which is very likely as they may not have a 2013 available at the time they run the event.)

Let's not forget about this video:
0-60 in 3.8 seconds 1/4 mile under 12 seconds on stock rubber This car is capable of much more after break in and the right conditions. ![]()

First production 1/4 mile times are pretty unimpressive.....but I'll still with-hold judgement until I see a few more times. How much torque management is being seen between shifts?
I suspected that the QC hold was to address a drivetrain durability issue of some sort and that GM's "fix" was to program in more Torque Management to lessen the hit/shock on the drivetrain at initial take-off and between shifts. Their evasiveness as to what caused the hold added to my suspiscions and these initial times only serves to reinforce that (to me at least). http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=16 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=16 But I won't say "I told you so"....yet!

The ZL1 is a spectacular car. Can't wait to see what this one does after break in period.

Well, I never planned to leave it stock anyway. Got my upgrades on my workbench, and the dyno and tuner is ready, so ... I will say I was disapointed at these numbers. I thought they would be better. I still plan to be obnoxious and a loudmouth though...yay ZL1 is the king! lol

I'm not going to rub anything in. I hope the car gets faster as well. When the SS first came out nineball ran on at the same Henessey track and I think posted a 13.1 or so. I expect better passes to come but this will most likely be the norm.
