I only read the first and last pages of htis thread. I would have them fix it and I would keep it. It is still a new car, just make sure it looks like new when they are done with the fixing. If you have someone build a house for you and someone knocks holes in the drywall or smashes a cabinet and they fix it, is it not still a new house? Same thing applies here.

As for $$$, if the damage was caused during transit , then the transportation company is responsible and would be backcharged the cost of repair. They have insurance for just htis kind of thing anyway.

As for any discout you may get, i'm also guessing here that the best you could hope for is to get the car for invoice now and maybe the dealer will throw in some free service for the future care for the car. Maybe a free accessory when they become available.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CAR LET IT GO. This could be a on going problem with this car. My wife had her 96 RS Camaro repaired from a dealer the car sucked after that never was right again. We ended up selling it we were so unhappy with it. Goto cars.com and check there first if not i would re-order. Some guys are getting them as quick as 8 weeks now.

Drivers side door and some fender work. The paint started flaking off in the rocker panel and over spray in the wheel wells. We took it back 3 times to get it right they never did. No way in hell id take a new car that needs to be repaired before i even got it never. There no doubt about it there are some skilled people out there that can make it look like new but doesnt matter i still wouldnt take it. I work in the weld shop for a Japaneese auto plant plus i used to work in QC for under a year im very picky. Trust me if you were in my shoes you would feel the same.

Unfortunately, once you start having repairs done to a car, no matter how minor, it will never be the same. There's no way in the world that I'd take it after that happened. Really feel bad for you. :(

Wow, TOUGH CALL...

Low VIN? If Waldo had came in with that kind of damage, I can't honestly say I wouldn't have told them to shove the car- regardless of the VIN.

That being said, it's a knee jerk reaction because you/we ordered it/them and expected them to come in flawless. I can tell you Waldo is far from flawless- but nowhere near your extent (currently).

Look at it this way- if you had simply gone into a dealer a couple months from now and bought that car off the lot, it will have already been fixed and you would never know there was any damage. There is damage like that to cars ALL THE TIME and as consumers, we rarely see it.

Reality is, if you don't take delivery, "your" car will be fixed and sold to someone who will never know there was any issue with it. You personally have to weigh whether you want the car in a week when it's fixed or in 8 weeks if you order another- IF YOUR DEALER STILL HAS ALLOCATION LEFT. As far as it being fixed "correctly", I would be confident that my dealer could fix it to where I'd never know the damage occurred. JMO.

Edit-> Waldo had 26 miles at delivery.

if it were mine... I would just tell them to fix it... but quickly!!!!

.... it's just a broken mirror and a few scratches. waiting for another car would suck.

VINs not that low...if under 100 I'd have second thoughts. I know it's a pain in the a$$, but you will jump to the head of the line...NEW VEHICLE.
