Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend... since you'll be skipping the D/FW area I guess you could consult the K&N website for local dealers to the zip code you'll be visiting... maybe have it shipped there, if you'll be there long enough.

I now that non of you think i know what i am saying but if you will give Vararam some time most of your problems will be fixed with there CAI, Like i said there is more than 3 things going on with the L99
#1 bad A/F
#2 pulls the timing down on hot days (PS more than it needed)
# Secret can not tell at this time
So hold on for less than a month.

While a K&N will help a little, don't expecrt too much. Sounds like your car anda couple of others here need more than an air filter swap.

I really hope you guys get it resolved, I will admit to being a little nervous about my L99 order...I am sitting at 3000 with a TPW of 7/27...if I could I would prolly change my order to the manual 6.

Hope you guys get resolved. As others have said, I would do nothing to void your warranty. It would just be one more excuse thrown in if you did that. A new car is just that...new. You should not have to tune your car to get it to the performance level it was already promised at. Sorry, but that's just the way I see it no matter WHO made the car.

Pssssssst Ford dealerships will have the NEW 5.0 Mustang on the lots soon...Pass it on Oh..Oh..that slip out...

In all seriousness I hope you guys get this worked out. Lord knows GM could not use bad press about a flagship vehicle return right about now.

Not taking the Camaro so I'll just order one after Scott gets his.

I'd say it has ONE problem. It's not as fast as it's supposed to be. The dealer should break it down into why.

Hopefully we'll have some answers before you get yours so you'll know what to look for and what the fix is. And a bigger hope that you don't have any problems.

So, you have been saying your car is running slow (though I haven't read up on everything related to that yet), got it dyno'd and it seems lower than you expected. The A-F ratio, while seemingly wonky is apperently correct. Other cars that have been run in your area (simlar weather conditions) have produced the expected numbers, yet yours doesn't. This has all just been a recap for myself.

So, I'd say that another dyno run probably won't deliver the expected numbers, since the car is slower than it should be. If it was a case of the tranny eating up too much power then every L99 would be acting the same way -including the pre-production cars. So this isn't the case. If it was weather, then PQ's dynos should have at least looked the same as other L99 runs, only with different values. But they don't look the same to me, his torque drops in the mid rpm range rather than climbing. That said, I'm not a dyno expert. Thats just what common sense tells me.

Ahem, the Daytona International Speedway is in Daytona Beach Florida. The Talladega Superspeedway is in... Talladega Alabama.

I didn't know we considered it correct. Is it? The guy who did the Dyno said it was WAY out of wack. I don't know.

I'd have to see other auto dynos, but I can tell you it is WAY different then my dyno in regards to A/F ..So I don't think it is normal ..

Based on other dyno's I've seen, no the A/F is not normal. The values are about the same, but the consistency and linearity of the line are substantially different for yours. Here is an L99 Dyno from 5gen.org, before and after a tune (again NOT suggesting a tune)

Keep in mind, different dyno (well, both dynojet, but physically different..lol), different weather and they use the SAE correction factor, so the HP values are not directly comparable. What wont change is the shape of the line. As you can see, the A/F plot, even before the tune is very linear and smooth.

That is what the other Dynos at the shop looked like. When the tech was telling me that my reading was way out of norm, he pulled up a list of files and had me pick any I wanted to look at (of course I didn't) but he pulled up several and they all had a solid line like this one. He wondered if I had an air filter that was too dense.

Maybe it just gets filled with moisture form the high humidity and doesn't allow enough air to get through. Anyone up north been having a problem? All of the cases I know of L99 issues are down here.

Inevitably there will be one that I knew of but forgot. If you're that guy I'm sorry. lol
