I also had the rub marks. I was really dissapointed when I first saw it, but since I've installed the spoiler, the bad-ass look of the Z/28 has made me completely forget about the marks.
OEM Z has 6 bolts.

The first car that I saw when I was scrolling was the black car at the top of the picture and I thought "You've got to be kidding me" hahaha too funny... Sweet 1LE!!!

My 1LE had 4200 miles when I pulled the spoiler. The spots rubbed all the way through were under where the Z28 spoiler sits. I touched them up. The peaks that others show on this thread were a problem. I touched up where it was rubbed to bare metal. Wet sanded those spots and those peaks. Then I buffed with rubbing compound. Then polishing compound. Then wax. Then I put a layer of xpel film where the Z28 spoiler will sit on the paint. The peaks that extend from under the Z28 spoiler are very faint now. If you did not know to look for them, you won't see them. Wing came out great. Paint is protected under it now.

Installed my Z/28 carbon fiber spoiler today from Nathan at g5 carbon. Spoiler is amazing but like most on this post I have rub spots on my trunk lid. Called the dealership as my car is 4 months old and they will be replacing with a new trunk. Question I have is what is the best solution to stop this from happening again?

First of al, we need pics! I think you'll be the first 1LE with this installed. Also, share the dealer that replaced this under warranty. Technically, because you 'modified' the stock look, they didn't have to do that. You're very lucky.

As for preventing it, you shouldn't have to worry. The reason for the rub marks on the 1LE spoiler is because of where it was in contact with the trunk. The Z28 is much more aggressive (not in contact) in those locations. You should never have this problem again.

eBay for the cheap one. By cheap, I mean inexpensive. I have since gone carbon fiber and had the eBay version prior. It is of excellent quality. Only difference is that it has 4 bolts instead of the OEM 6. The provided gaskets get relieves any water concerns in the unused holes. Also, you'll need a pretty decent extension on you screwdriver/ratchet to get to the middle bolts. Try to use a magnet version in the chance the bolt falls out of the tool and into the trunk (I was guilty of this twice!)

The matte black finish can be had, but someone else will have to help me on the color code. I ordered mine in gloss black.

Told the dealer I'm very particular when it comes to detailing my car so I removed the spoiler to wax that area and noticed the paint blemishes. So I'll just throw on the original spoiler when I bring it in. What they don't know won't hurt them! Haha

You can get the Z28 spoiler from here as well for $109.00:

http://spoilerandwingking.com/Chevro...yle-SS-Spoiler

It says "SS" spoiler but trust me...it is indeed the Z28 spoiler...I have it on my 2015 ZL1.
