Only take one key in. If they perform the recall, break one of 2 new spares they'll give you and put the key back in the old fob, you now have two normal keys like now plus an extra spare.

The issue lies in the orientation of the ignition, not in the key design. Rather than replace the ignition switch in the car where the key is rotated to a safer position, it was just easier to change the key. New keys are just a bandaid fix.

Read the 2nd recall letter you guys get, it might not be related to the key, I work at a GM/Chevy dealership & the "new" recall is a bolt underneath your seat if you have power (raise & lower) adjustable seats.

Basically we just remove the bolt and replace it with a longer one to fit a nut behind the bolt. takes about 10-15 minutes

yeah I got that one too. FYI for those that would prefer to do it themselves and avoid the dealer, the kit to fix the seat is just a couple bucks. I ordered it a couple days ago.

Here's a post detailing the procedure and part number. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=10

Definitely just a band aid. The new key caused my Camaro to shut off 3 times!

Turns out now the remote hangs down and lines up with my knee. Just the right
position to bump it up and hit the switch.

What a joke!

Figure one of our very own Ed Markey calling for more laws. Yet here in mass they stopped sending out the notice in the mail to remind you when your license needed to be renewed because it cost to much to send the notices. Now they want to try and track recalls and if they have been done. Total BS.

Oh, Mary, get tough.

Yeah....it' s pretty ridiculous. My '14 Sonic also comes with a switchblade key too....and in that little car, it is certainly closer to my knee. In the Camaro my knee isn't even close to the key.

Went in and had the key recall done Friday. I bought my SS used and only got one key, so now I have two at zero cost to me and I can convert one back into the fob. Score!
