Which one got the 350 TWO YEARS before the other? Which one has a lengthier exhaust system to eat a few horses?

"Shared", where market rationale is in effect.

Volume. Corvettes, without Camaro offspring to "assist" in building volume, and therefore price rationalization, would be an even more expensive car than they already are, or have been. Bang for the buck, Corvette is terrific value. Always has been. And, since '67, Camaro had fully assisted the Corvette in that perpetual, and successful, quest.

Take a look at "outrageously expensive" Corvettes. BOTH ZR1s come to mind. Were their engines available in the much more voluminous Camaro? No. Coincidence? No.

Sadly, it was only aimed at Ford. Nice Happy Birthday present. When all the cake was gone, so was the GT.

Columbus Day weekend '09, I toured the (Saleen) GT plant in Troy with the realtor handling the property for the group who bought it from the Receiver. $3,000,000+ paint line, paid by Ford. 180,000 sq. ft. 2 flat plates. 2 other downdraft paint booths. Tons of leftovers (non-GT) including a handful of Saleen vehicles (2 F150s, 4 Stangs). Asking price? $1.8KK. Ouch. Those were expensive candles on that cake.

I'll say. I couldn't even buy one. All spoken for or the dealer was keeping them.

It DID create a "modern classic", though. Current prices for new/near-new have swelled. What used to buy a Cobra roadster will now buy a GT.

I assume you mean Luxury car as Cadillac is killing Lincoln. Heck I wish they'd follow. Anywhere else, I just don't see it. Mid-size, Economy, Performance 2+2, trucks? Sure the Corvette, but you can't lead if there's no follower.

Let's see what car got what engine first.

LT1 Corvette
LT4 Never made it to Camaro
LS1 Corvette
LS6 Never made it to Camaro
LS2 Never made it to Camaro
LS3 Corvette
LS7 Corvette
LS9 Never made it to Camaro
LT1 Corvette

Ford will take a flyer, the only recent generation car to have turned out to be a great investment is the GT40 (what ever they called it). Those are bring more than double sticker already now and they sold each one at a lost. It was the 2 year run of the Boss 302 that sparked the 1LE.

From what I know, the Ford engineers were more impressed with the engineering on the 1LE and ZL/1. In fact, a few laughed about having to partner with Fords racing partner to fealty get the Camaro to dance. Ford, for good or bad, is more margin driven than GM which is more tech driven. Anyway, I don't think this car, at least in one of two trim levels will be that raw. But it will be ferocious while being track capable. I'm thinking more Z06/7 than Z/28. GM won that round although Ford had moved on to another game by then. Looking forward to the Monday myself. Wonder if the new Camaro is at a point in development to respond at launch? In betting that will come shortly thereafter. It really is a great tennis match and my neck is getting a work out from the back and forth.
Ford has done a pretty awesome job of pulling the one up. When the ZL came out and was about to crush everything in its path there was all of a sudden a 662hp GT500. Now while, in my opinion, it was still not up to task of the ZL it sure gave all the Ford boys something to hang their hat on.

Now here is where I'm a bit lost at the moment. These GT350 videos are just freaking AWESOME! I'm not a fan boy and I purchased a ZL because I felt it was a better car. This GT350 has me very excited but the timing is all wrong. Why come out with your killer car when we are going into Winter and most folks are putting their cars to bed and other things are on their mind. Take into account that we've got the new G6 Camaro in the Spring which I believe will be opening a whole new can of Whoop-a$$ so why would Ford play their best cards now? I think this is a fake out, for lack of a better term. We'll see a reasonable new GT350 with a strong street version but I do feel they're going to hold back their true killer untill after the new Camaro is launched to try and steal some thunder. If they don't are they not at risk of creating excitement now ( kinda like selling suntan lotion in the Winter) and by the time folks are ready to pull the trigger on them the new Camaro will launch and leave Ford hanging. Unless it's a low volume seller like the Z/28 to just give their fan base their bragging rights.

Thoughts???

BTW Fender addict. it's really nice to see some of the Ford guys on here who can talk and discuss this hobby without going into fanboy mode and going blind to a discussion about their ride. If you're ever in my neck of the woods I'd love to do a track day with a Boss as I'm not able to find any Mustang guys who will come out and run their cars. Other than the occasional AutoX and they usually only come once or twice then quit.

The car is being unveiled in the winter months, not released.

I remember the 13GT500 being unveiled in the fall or winter of 2011, and mine was a super early delivery in mid May...perfect time to get it on the roads.

Yeah reveal now few articles in magazines and online with test drives in January and february. Then open order banks for them in march and delivery in may that's good marketing.

Unless the GT350 is on par with the Z/28 or Cobra Rs of the past, I don't see it being too far off from the 1LE is already.
If Ford's SVT Car is only a little better than the 1LE that would be a total failure. We still don't know a whole hell of a lot about the GT350. Alot of what we know is still rumors until Monday.

That is the general consensus I have seen on a few forums. That these GT350 videos have gotten people excited and curious. I honestly don't know what to expect with this GT350. All I know is I cant wait for Monday to see what it is!

As far as the unveil in the winter, I think this about sums it up
