yep my only concern too....I have used it in the vette too, but it did not seem as engaged as it was in the camaro? Maybe because it had 8 miles on it :-) I will argue about 2/10ths though.....because that is on EVERY shift and only if you are PERFECT...that's going to be a lot of time on laguna.

Backeddy, weren't you set on buying a GT350R? Or both '17 1LE and it? Just curious...

I'm no Ford expert, correct me if wrong, but isn't the 350 manual transmission only too??

Just askin'

I would not waste the $ on the R model, just a track pack....The A8 changed my mind I think, as I had no idea how great it was (only got 8 or 9 laps though). If you read my reviews, the gt350 was very easy to keep in the power band and it would probably walk a z28 (at laguna) with little effort in experienced hands. BUT i hate the shifter...i mean hate it(my fiesta st commuter has a better one) and it might be a deal breaker as I think it goes all the way to the transmission level. The Biggest difference with the A8 Camaro is the 2nd-3rd gear acceleration, it would leave my current 1LE sitting coming out of lower speed turns, even with the crappy 3 season tires it comes with now. I am ready for a new car right now, my dealer group has a blue gt350 track pack available for $59k, and they have a blue ss A8 for $47k and lastly there is a 2013 Cayman s PDK for $49k down the street. The question is, which one is the best deal at $59k(camaro/porsche have 10k for upgrades)? I wish I knew the answer...............

The Cayman PDK is the best car I have ever driven on a track, no bad habits, very fast and very quick. It was better than the 4.0l indy car with a 10,400 rpm red line and it shifted faster too

A car like the Cayman needs the PDK.

For me, it's not just about the track numbers alone, but what suits the character of the car.

As much as I'm a manual stick guy, for whatever reason, I would find a car like the Cayman, chronologically out of place, and odd feeling with a stick in there. Even more out of place in Audis sports R coupes and RS sedans. Ditto on the newest of Lambos.

Kind of like seeing an actor accidentally wearing a watch in a Moses movie.

New GT350 and perhaps even 1LE on the other hand..perhaps it's their raw quality...I dunno, but they can get away with it. Stick still feels right at home in there.

The new SS will run with a 5G 1LE on a track (but with more understeer), and keep up with a stock ZL1 at the drags. How much performance does one need to have fun? M6 and 1SS should have been the 1LE plan all along. But aren't we gald they built it Gen5? I loved mine until it went shiny side down.
Unhappy 1le owners.......

umm, how about no.

My car can go toe to toe with a ferrari 458 on the streets of willow. How many other cars can say that?

The only "complaint" i have heard of is "wish it had more power"... Which is a really easy fix.

And no matter how much power they gave it, would have been a common complaint!
