I agree, if you wash it regularly in the winter you can keep the cars clean. Case in point, my Brother and my Father both had 2001 Jeep Cherokees, my Dad washed the underside maybe a couple times in the winter, my brother did it about 4 times a month. By 2010 My Brother's Jeep looked pretty much rust free, my dads looked like it sat in an ocean, shock mount rusted and broke, holes all over the place, exhaust rotted out, etc.

ABSOLUTELY!

My buddy at work is currently agonizing over his car situation. he has a very nice VW golf "R" that sits in his parent's garage all winter. He drives a beater subaru outback - that just had a whole slew of mechanical issues in cascading failure. Now he's thinking about saving some money and selling both the VW and the subaru and getting a "sensible" car to drive year round

Maybe that was his winter beater and has a Lamborghini for the summer lol
I daily drive my car through that every winter here in Buffalo.

No Lambo for the summer...

Just takes good maintenance practices, and a willingness to DRIVE the car.

Eh I drive mine to work everyday and it doesn't bother me. It stays inside when I'm not driving it but I'm not afraid to take it out into the snow or rain.

Plus I wash my car every Sunday, and if there's a lot of salt on the roads after a heavy snow I'll wash it more often than once a week so salt isn't sitting on the car for very long.

I'm fortunate enough to have an indoor wash bay at our shop I can use whenever, otherwise I'd be right there with you not spraying my car off either lol. These last 2 days have been brutal, feels like we're below zero.

Even the few times my car has been caught on salty roads I almost immediately do an underbody wash

Then again I live in the south so salty roads happen like twice a year so that's the only time it's not on the road

My windshield is pitted and chipped, I have rock chips in the paint and hood vinyl and the front splitter is nowhere near smooth. My car is sitting in the parking lot now with sand/salt/snow on it.

Some people act like it's the worst thing ever to actually drive the car. Every. single. person I meet at work who learns I daily drive it all winter asks "why don't you get a beater?"

Why? Why in the world would I spend $40k on a garage decoration? It's bad enough my motorcycle doesn't get out in the winter, I just couldn't imagine having a car that couldn't see weather.

One of my co-workers snagged a hellcat challenger a couple years ago. He traded an early production Challenger R/T for it that had less than 5k miles. The first time he drove it to work and it rained I thought he was going to pull his hair out!

I can't imagine driving a shitbox around daily. For one, the camaro does great in the snow; second, the shitbox is just going to be a money pit; third, I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF EVEN THE SHORTEST DRIVE.

Sometime in the future I'll probably trade up to a 6th gen and start "destroying" (driving) it.

That's not to say I don't appreciate you fair weather guys. Down the road when I'm looking for another 5th gen I'm going to look here first and find the "low miles, garage kept" cars that you guys never got to fully enjoy By the way, I drove my car out of a showroom... It will likely never be that condition again...

EDIT: It should go without saying that everyone paid for their cars, and thus, nobody gets to tell you what to do with your own car. However, saying that it's "disgraceful" to daily these cars is just insulting. Just because my car is driven daily doesn't mean I don't take good care of it otherwise.
