Please pardon if this has already been asked but I need to know...would replacing the stock CATS with high flow CATS (and no other changes) increase the volume or possibly change the sound or both or neither?

Also, would high flow CATS improve performance given the use of shorties or would it be a waste of money? If it would be an improvement, anyone care to guestimate a ballpark gain to be expected?

This update should answer your questions:

We just got the car off the dyno from a few pulls with the STOCK exhaust and only our direct bolt-on HF cats (no tune). We saw an increase of 25ft/lbs. and 22rwhp. These are incredible gains with the HF cats alone! The stock exhaust does not drone with them, and we have taken decibal readings which we will post in the product thread. The stock exhaust also now has some growl to it and and sounds quite nice. It is definitely an improvement all-around. We are taking video also. This is very exciting!!!

We are now installing our exhaust kit with the HF cats, and then it is back to the dyno

Very interesting. With most people seeing gains of about 40 HP with long tubes this sounds like a very nice alternative. What will be very interesting is adding some shorties with this. Could be very interesting.

I'd be interested in the gains with these HF cats mated to the popular shorty headers such as BBK, Doug Thorley, etc.

The gains that I posted above are from the HF cats ONLY. We are putting on a cat-back and expect even better numbers. With a proper tune, which we are working on offering as a package with the kit, you could see well above what we posted above. Only testing will tell, but I do not see the numbers getting worse.

We will keep you updated on pricing and other information as it becomes available. We are sure that this will be another alternative to headers that will provide ample power.

Too bad you aren't closer to Knoxville TN, I'd like to see what these HF cats would do on my un-tuned LS3 with the BBK headers, CAI intake and GMPP touring axle back system.

Correct...by looking at them, you can see that they were not badly designed. The stock converters are designed far worse than the manifold is.

We will probably be having a group buy on them ince they are ready, so that would be a great time to pick up a set and let us know how they perform with your setup

Just by changing the cats you gained 25 ft/lb tq, and 22 rwhp? Those gains are right there with just switching to long tube headers without a tune! Wish I wouldn't have bought those headers now :(
