One problem i have on this mod is that i was going to use the a Corvette push button, But now that i am adding the HUD to the car that will not work,(The hud button gos where the push button start was going to go) so now for plan B, There is a nice looking push button to use but some may not like it in there car.(FORD)lol

What if you go Back to the future style and put all the switches and buttons in the cup holder area? I saw here somewhere a guy putting his nos switches and guages there with a metal faceplate and lighted trim ring. That would be bad ass.

But you will have a hole where the key gos now, That is where i want to mount the new button, Let me get 2 of my other things done in the next 3-4 weeks and i will get back to this DYI.
Things in the works, 1: Real afterburner Tail lights. 2: Adding HUD to 2010 cars and 1ss & 1lt 3: Adding ABL to the bottom Of the door panel to get the look of the Concept Car. 4: Removing and relocate Shark fin XM antenna. 5: Make a Dove tail rear spoiler. 6: Push button start for the camaro. |

Well my Camaro is in the shop getting a new bumper, fender and headlamp from someone running a light in front of me, my rental has push start. Nissan Altima. Crappy car but I like the car I don't need to pull out the key to unlock the doors or start the car. I would like to see a setup like this. Basically the door handles have a button and as long as the fob is near, I can push the button to unlock the door or lock it. And or course I can start or turn the car off with a button. Never a need to take the key out of my pocket.

That works but any one can start the car with that, What i think most want is a new key fob that when its in your car you can use the push start button only then.

I just don't get the need for a push button start. With the remote start my car is usually warmed by the time I get in it.
And a twist of the key takes no more than about 2 seconds. But I've seen crazier things...... |

It says it uses RFID so you need the fob they give you as it has the RFID. States it only works as long as their fob is within 10 feet.

I actually just talked to them and they do have a kit that will work and tie into the factory alarm. It's not listed on their site and I am waiting for an email with details about it. Basically the kit ties into the factory alarm and you carry a card, about the size of a credit card but ~3x thicker. When you come within I think 3 feet of the car the doors unlock, alarm disarms, lights come on and horn will chirp if you want. You then push the start button to turn on accessory power or push the brake in and push the button and the car starts. When you walk away from the card, the doors lock and factory alarm arms.
I'm hoping it's not too pricy but I think it's the next thing for my baby. They build them in bulk and only have a couple left right now otherwise it's about 3 weeks out for the next set of the packages. I probably will be the guinea pig and see how well it works. Just need to get the wife to agree with spending more on the ride. |
